Titanic Lockdown Festival

1

I see there's a festival on on 1st/2nd June with New Order, Happy Mondays, Anna Calvi, Scratch Perry etc www.titanic-lockdown.c...

looks pretty good, £66 for both nights. Who is behind this festival? It doesn't look like your standard Belfast City Council organised shindig

ps ticket master to book tickets - why? why not just set up your own online ticket booking system?

why isnt the re an alternative to ticketmaster? how hard can it be to set up a ticket selling website and then undercut them by a couple of quid on the booking fee?

0 |

Think it's Hydroponic behind it.

0 |

Its good for promo

0 |

ive heard the name but should i be ashamed not not having heard of michael mckeown?

i dont think ive ever been to a hydropnic night in the city. where would they host them?

0 |

theyve been going for years Connell

most recently they were in the black box i think, but have been in numerous venues. i dunno if ive been to one of their night eitehr tbh

0 |

Ticketmaster have it licked on brand recognition. I'd have a doubt booking tickets with anyone else. Not a big doubt, but a doubt nonetheless.

0 |

id rather book tickets directly from the retailer as long as there is an SSL certificate/secure online shopping system. i understand this can be pricey to setup/run but y'know, £1 booking fee as opposed to £4 through ticketmaster...

0 |

Booking fee is the least of my financial worries when it comes to nights out these days. Fucking £3.50 a pint!!!

0 |

thats at the least. some bars are doing £4.10 for a pint

0 |

£4.40 in the errigle for peroni

0 |

Peroni is SO expensive, but its fucking amazing on draft

0 |

£4.10? Holy jesus balls.
It was only £3.15 for a pint of Becks in the Mandella at the weekend.

0 |

There was some amount of big hairy sweaty bastards coming out of Mandella on Saturday after that Korn gig.

And that was just the girls. LOL

0 |

LOLZ! I was fucking dreanched. Ended up heading straight home after.
Some weirdo ended up in our apartment and was offering me £50 for each person I threw off my balcony.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted.

0 |

I accept thats the intention.
But when i see 1 sold out show and 10 not, it doesnt look as good as previous years when all events look sold out and demand appears higher.

Not having a go at belsonic btw.

0 |

Glass is half empty pbl? When I see the sold out on Guetta, I think that If I've any interest in the other shows, then I should get my ticket in case they sell out too.

0 |

Fuck me @ owing £240,000

I lost 250 on a gig once & thought the world had ended.

0 |

if thats the first rule.....I find it strange when promoters sticker their own posters with sold out signs.

Everytime i see david guetta 'sold out' at belsonic i instantly notice the lack of sold out signs for the other events.

v good point by rj macready.

the night spots I see doing well, or the concerts, are in the main for teens or twentys bar the occasional job.

Like squeezing everyone into cafe vaudeville or benedicts between 10 and 1 on a saturday, the stone roses concert, and such like.

0 |

Upsetting news and bad for all people who want to see decent musical acts in Belfast.

0 |

any further word on this? lineup is lookin a bit thin at this stage. would have expected some further additions by now. has potential to be a cracking festival too

0 |

Same weekend as Pigstock and for that reason I'm out.

0 |

Same weekend as Primavera.. also out.

0 |

Same weekend as forbidden fruit - I'm potentially out as well. Still curious tho

0 |

I like Factory Floor.

0 |

Is why they're clearing a big space beside shipyard on sydenham street? Pulled down some old walls that had charisma.

0 |

It has the potential to be great and whilst not hugely interested in Happy Mondays for curiosity sake id get the 2 day pass, New Order should be awesome though! Pity its clashing with other festivals but id rather go to Titanic Lockdown seeing its in Belshaft also its always nice to support local up and coming promoters.

0 |

Happy mondays are great fun live.

0 |

There's already been one which had roots manuva headling alongside Gilles Peterson. Good night but could of done with more people at it.

0 |

Heard the sound & atmosphere weren't great at roots manuva. Dying to see new order again but not sure if I could be bothered also :/:/

0 |

Yeah, i'd agree there for the most unfortunately.

0 |

Will be heading if I can wangle a free ticket or two.
New Order headlining Festival No. 6 later in the year, would be nice to see them twice.
Heard positive reports about the new bassist.

0 |

Down the front at Roots manuva everyone was giving it heaps but it was disappointing attendance wise which can only be helped by ppl bothering to go i spose.

public bus service, post service, there are quite a few need under cutting. Remember when BT was the only real option for a phone, they were seriously under cut by new companies. Sky tv too

0 |

would love to be at it but bestman that weekend, seen New Order before so taking this on the chin

Other bands tie in great imo, errors are a superb band and Happy Mondays and Lee scratch perry will be quality

Just hope New Order arent too shaky as ive seen them vary in their quality. Oxegen gig in 2005 was unreal, played shit loads of Joy Division as 25th Anniversary of Curtis death

0 |

Cancelled :/

0 |

shame.

0 |

Yeah was looking forward to New Order.

0 |

Wow. Why? That's my decision made for me then...

0 |

Serious?
Raspberries.

Statement - 17.05.2012
Due to poor ticket sales in a challenging economic climate, it is with great regret and disappointment that we must announce the cancellation of the 2012 Titanic Lockdown summer festival.

Despite a huge wave of goodwill, ticket sales have been significantly slower than forecast for an event featuring such high profile acts. As a result, it will not be possible to deliver the event.

We would like to offer our sincere thanks to all who have supported, endorsed and believed in the project. In addition, we offer good wishes to all local festival organisers, such as CQAF, Belsonic, Sunflower Fest, T Vital, Glasgowbury, Open House, Seedhead Arts, T13 and all local promoters and artists currently beating the drum for the Arts in Northern Ireland. They make a wonderful contribution to the cultural life of our city in these bleak economic times.

No one is more disappointed than us that the event will not now be taking place, but unfortunately the circumstances are simply beyond our control.

All tickets will be fully refunded - please contact your ticket provider for details.

Titanic Lockdown Festival Team.

Ah ffs, it was the lads 1st festi too, gutted for them :-( plus the line up was great

0 |

what a shame

our time etc

0 |

Shame that.

0 |

I reckon people found it too expensive and to be honest i think it was, and I've paid silly money for gigs over the years at times.

Wish I'd just went to forbidden fruit instead, far better lineup.

0 |

It was obviously coming for a while too, they announce very little support acts for something that was supposed to start at 12pm on the Saturday.

Anyone know it was council funded fully?

0 |

balls...was looking forward to new order...glad i didnt actually buy tickets

tho I'm still selling 2 x tickets for stone roses in dublin...pm if interested

0 |

think they had some funding yeah

0 |

New Order would have been perfect for Belsonic, better venue and sound. Shame.
