Got forename.surname@outlo... and forenamesurename@outlo...

Not sure what il use

0 |

Still have my old hotmail address (tied to my Windows Phone and Xbox account so I can't change it) from 15 years ago. Honestly I haven't used it for actual email in about 10 years, seeing the changes they've made yesterday (Outlook.com is superb) I think I'll actually start using it again.

I have 25gb worth of skydrive storage tied to my hotmail account which I use as a photo backup I'm hoping they allow us to merge it as I'd prefer to switch over to the new outlook address

I hate Micrsoft.

Used to Windows Passport, then Windows Live ID, now it's just Microsoft Account. How long til they rebrand it again?

0 |

What do you use instead Wayne?

0 |

Meh. Gmail does me

0 |

Anyway, got signed in with my Microsoft Account (which incidently uses an icloud email address). And the interface is awful.
But then, I generally hate all web based email. Give me a simple mail client any day of the week.

Just linked my otmail.com account to my new account

I use iCloud for my main email, and have a few gmail accounts that I'm hoping to get rid of.

0 |

iCloud? Oh you mean the service formerly known as .Mac and MobileMe? Wonder how long till they rebrand that one.

0 |

outlook looks great but i cant log on to it atm

0 |

Touché Matthew.

0 |

I normally don't like Apples locked down stuff but i think the iCloud is great, for the calender and contacts back up.

0 |

iCloud is effortless imo.

0 |

iCloud annoys me a bit because (a) it requires you to sign in with your Apple ID (another brand!) again even though you already logged in to that on your iPhone in general and (b) it doesn't sync a lot of relevant stuff like app settings.

Tell you how it should be done - I've been using the Release Preview of Windows 8 for a couple of months now on my laptop. Last month, I had the chance to use a tablet with Windows 8 installed, so I logged into it with my Microsoft Account (same as I use for my phone and my Xbox) and within 3 minutes it had all of my app settings, messages, system preferences, contacts and photos synced. I've already linked Facebook and Twitter with that account in the past, so the photos included all my Facebook photos and the contacts were filled with FB and Twitter friends. Seriously impressive and I can't wait to get the RTM soon.

Hows Win8? My thoughts are it will be buggy, its only a guess as I haven't used it but going by the history of Win OS, every 2nd release is a bit shitty

0 |

You're wrong. Like I say I've been using the Release Preview (which is now about 3 months old) as my primary OS and honestly, it is absolutely rock solid - it has not crashed once. That is seriously impressive for a preview version and the final release will be even more stable. In fact, the extra features that will be in the final version aside, I could easily run this permanently with no regrets.

from a business point of view, i cant see us upgrading from win7 sp1 for a long long time. i expect this to be the XP of the decade

0 |

This isn't a business OS. I mean it has tonnes of business features and is actually much better to use in an Exchange environment compared to W7, but you can tell this is meant for the consumer market. $40 to upgrade from any copy of Windows since XP for example? That's a massive shift from previous versions and a very dramatic price point. Moving into the hardware game with Surface is a big indicator too (I want one). Guaranteed that the next Xbox will be a Windows 8 PC tailored by Microsoft to be blazingly fast for games.

Got forename.surname@outlo... and forenamesurename@outlo... and a couple of others too.

Think I'll use the one with the dot in it as my work email has a dot and if I'm rhyming it off it'll prob be better to keep it the same.

This is good as I've been looking to get a semi serious, non work email address. Cheers RJ.

im gonna hedge my bets on it for the moment, i think the default UI is going to be a bit of a shock to a lot of consumers who are used to "clicking on the start button..."

i know you can change it but the out of box experience will be a bit of a paradigm shift and the whole ubuntu/unity problem is a little glimpse into the future i reckon. we will see...

0 |

Oh yeah, massive change, but absolutely needed to happen. In 1/2 years, Microsoft will have a common platform across phones, tablets, laptops, desktops and consoles (and therefore your TV) - developers will have to write their apps and games once and it'll work across all of these. SkyDrive will be an innate part of the OS and silently migrate millions of consumers to the cloud. I dunno, I was absolutely bored shitless by Microsoft about 2 years ago, but especially in the last 4 months they have shown a completely different company: Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, Surface, new Office, rebranding to remove all the silly adjectives in product names, SkyDrive, Outlook.com. These are all really exciting products, more so than what Apple have been doing recently, I'd argue.

try photobucket , RJ Macready- i think it's unlimited and free

0 |

Would love a surface if it's not too step

0 |

I reckon Surface will be priced at about $400-500 for the RT version and about $800-1000 for the Pro version (depending on the final specs). Hopefully they'll reveal that soon.

That too is what I am thinking. I'd say we will buy them at the start but then start rolling them back, like Vista

one of the reasons i've held off on purchasing an ipad3 is to see what MS Surface is like, i really like the look of the metro interface and if its a full desktop experience on a shiny tablet with similar perfomance to an ipad ill be all over it

0 |

That's what it is - the Surface Pro isn't released until December/January though.

0 |

One of the things about going Apple is, one you move over, you kind of, feel... tied in.

0 |

Thanks for this...got my full name too

The interface is much better than it is in gmail.
