Never had the C64. We rocked the Atari ST back in the Crimbo of 88. Amazing machine, still have it as well!

0 |

I had spectrum then atari st then an amiga

0 |

so many great games but bubble bobble trumps them all for me

0 |

Favourite included

Outrun
Robocop
Wrestlemania

0 |

lol

Ghostbusters II on the commodore gave you 3 chances to pass the difficult pre-game test, when you failed you had to reload for what seemed like 5hrs, good times.

0 |

Rainbow islands
Ghouls n ghosts
Spy vs spy
Jet set willy

0 |

all i can remember about ghostbusters is always dying when you cross the lazers :(

and outrun was great but one of the cursed games that just never seemed to load for us

0 |

and rainbow islands was amazing (as was new zealand story), i remember thinking if you finally completed bubble bobble it would turn in to rainbow islands. it did not

0 |

Jesus Johnny, don't cross the streams. Rule number 1

0 |

i was young and reckless :(

Wrestlemania was the ultimate joystick waggler. So much sothat I pulled the joystick clean out of its socket. The times being as they were my da fixed it by sticking a fairly big screwdriver into the hole that the stick used to be in and securing it with a large amount of super glue and tape.

What I was inadvertently left with was the ultimate waggling tool. One smack to the side of the screwdriver and it bounced back and forth at lightning speed. The grapples were over in about a second.

haha brilliant gherks, i was always shit at those games. olympics was the same

0 |

All you had to do was make sure the base of the joystick was secured to the table to prevent it flying through the window and hit the joystick a slap every second or so and you were destroying all in your path.

a good one for the Olympic/Track and Field type games was to hold the controller down and rather that try to press a button like fook, just rub a 10p across it. You could get pretty much top speed easily every time.
Incidentally, the buttons on the one in the arcade near my house were totally fucked, melted right through with millions of swipes of a 10p.

C64 highlights for me were:
The Last Ninja series
Turtles
Hammerfist
R-Type
Delta 2: Armalyte
DNA Warrior
Arkanoid

0 |

Double Dragon
Afterburner
Batman
Indiana Jones
Predator
Space Harrier

On the Atari ST

0 |

SHadow of the Beast

and +1 on R-Type. How i forgot that one!! I have it on my phone, still class!

0 |

Loved back to School,
Operation Wolf
Commando
barbarian
Jet set willy
And many many more
.
Me and a mate used to stay over at each others house and play the bards tale through the night on C64, then when we got Amigas it was all night sessions on Eye of the Beholder

0 |

Fucking hell, Afterburner was great!
The graphics were brilliant for an 8-bit machine.

0 |

Eye of the Beholder was a D&D game, wasn't it?
I had Heroes of the Lance, which wasn't great. Load for 10 mins, pick a door, load for another 10 minutes, wrong door, game over.

0 |

was afterburner the big arcade machine that everyone would stop and turn around for when someone had a game? like a jet fighter type affair?

0 |

T2 scene - JC playing an arcade game

"hey man theres a cop scoping for you"

Thats afterburner.

0 |

thats the one

0 |

Speccy was where it was at! All the cool (nah, poor) kids had Spectrums.

Attic Attack
River Rescue
Horace Goes Skiing
Skool Daze/Back To Skool
Alien8
How To Be A Complete Bastard
Dizzy series
Knightlore
Jet Set Willy

0 |

Oul JC hacking an ATM with an Atari Lynx.

0 |

Navy seals
Dizzy down the rapids
Rick Dangerous
Turbo the tortoise

Remember those magazines you could buy? had a tape stuck to the front with about 5 games on it, got a few class games that way.

0 |

Used to buy GamesX every week, jealous of the console invasion which suddenly made your C64 look a bit shit.
How could I forget Treasuse Island Dizzy, probably the cream of anthropomorphic egg-based puzzle games.

0 |

Barely any of them knew what the joystick was!!

0 |

there were some great football management games for it. On The Bench and Soccer Double, pathed the way for Championship Manager.

0 |

loved spy hunter, paperboy & skool Daze

mainly know about old games like these through angry video game nerd.

first console was a NES anyway.. well.. did have a pong console too.

0 |

my console history went C64/Atari 5200 > Master System > Megadrive > N64 > PS2 > xBox360

most played - N64
least played - xBox360

N64 is still setup as the main console in my mates house, mario kart 64 and worms armageddon are still amazing craic. better than anything to date imo.

a few facts there for you's.

0 |

Mario 64 was rubbish, a massive step backwards from the SNES game.

0 |

Mariokart64 just never, ever gets boring.

0 |

R-Type :)
