is there any advantage to buying one in the carphone warehouse to the apple store if your taking it to Australia?
would there be any issues with data use over there on an australian network?

I'm fairly sure that they are triband or quadband and should work there. If the price is the same in both, it won't matter really where you get it. Apple stores will still support any issues you may have in the future under warranty. In fact I think if you go to Carphone Warehouse with it they'll send you to the apple store for a repair.

it will certainly work there for calls etc but will that be fine for data? im near sure some blackberry models has issues with this?

Blackberrys have the issue because in order to use data on a blackberry you have to have a blackberry subscription. All data to a blackberry goes through BB own servers before going to the phone, thats why their security is so good and was a big selling point. Everything is encrypted. Data comes in on the same band as phone calls and texts so if that works, data works as long as you have a data package or bolt on or whatever.

A data package or whatever on your iphone that is.
