Some drive to the green there

0 |

I got lamped on the side of the head one time from a wayward drive . No four call nothing.Juat walking up the fairway minding my own business and next thing ya know out cold . Skull x rays the lot. It was not the one that

0 |

looks shit over there.

shit one for Rory just now

0 |

That boy Rory beaned will be sore tomorrow.

0 |

First round of rhe open always features an unknown japanese play who they give loads of coverage too

0 |

Just saw Kaymer's score there, fucking hell he's getting it tight this weather.

0 |

Aye he sort of laughed saying "Even worse [than braining some lad], my ball was out of bounds...!"
There's no harm to Rory, he's just young and mentally rich.

0 |

Mcilroy in the interview after more worried about his ball being out of bounds than the lad being split. I'm running out of reasons to like him and starting to find him annoying

0 |

Oul Aliss was right, players don't yell fore anymore incase they get the lucky bounce off a punter.

0 |

Tiger indeed for the win!

This isn't rorys first full season on pga tour either

0 |

@makaveli7 and @bubblesburst

At the irish open he was just a melter in his interviews, to quote " I mean I've played Royal portrush so many times I almost take it for granted" along with him leaving a long queue of young kids including my 10 year old cousin waiting for 3 hours at the autograph area for him to appear for 5 minutes and fake a few smiles then pish off again.

Why he couldnt have said things like, its great to have the tournament here, really glad of the support the crowd are giving me and the other irish guys etc. he said none of that.
Granted yes the Irish open may have been a PR exercise but you cannot argue with a record attendance for a european tour event.
Harrington meet and greeted kids and fans for an hour after his round on the Friday, and came across like a true gent in his interviews, thanking the fans and the organisers for giving him a great experience of what was a great Irish Open.

I hold 10 times the support for any of the other local lads than I do for Mcillroy, hes a self indulgent little turd in my opinion.
Probably doesnt help that in my two occasions of meeting him personally during my junior golf career he was also a total dickbag.
end of rant.

Tiger FTW

2012 Open Championship (Part 1)

Royal Lytham & St Anne’s is the host for this years third major championship where golfers from all over the world will be competing to hold aloft that famous claret jug on Sunday evening. Along with pulling on the green jacket at Augusta this is the pinnacle of the sport. Darren Clarke was the Champion Golfer of 2011 and after a disappointing year he’ll be looking to bounce back amidst favourable conditions. Royal Lytham will provide one of the toughest Open tests in many years. A premium is put on accuracy from the tee with fairway bunkers dotted around most holes. Coupled with that the players have the longest, thickest rough they’ve had to deal with since the infamous ‘Carnasty’. These factors will result in many golfers taking a more strategic approach mainly taking irons off the tee. This will lengthen the test, and with nasty weather on the horizon it makes the Open Championship a difficult betting heat to decipher.

The golfer top of our list this week is Justin Rose. He currently sits atop the Race to Dubai standings with a runner up spot at Wentworth and a WGC victory earlier in the year in the states. Justin ticks every box coming to Lytham this week. He can hit the ball straight, is razor accurate with his irons and most importantly has the knowledge to deal with this links offering. He burst onto our screens as a fresh faced 16 year old holing his 3rd shot to the 18th at Birkdale securing his Amateur Medal. In recent years he has become a major player and this could be the week he takes that extra step to the upper echelons of the game. He has been honing his skills in the states playing the New York Links course and Shinnecock Hills before playing in the French Open two weeks ago. Here at the LyonsDen we believe he has been preparing for this all year. A confident bet.

Advised: 3.5pts each-way J.Rose 33/1 (best price)

Our next two picks will be familiar to followers of the LyonsDen because they’ve ran us incredibly close in the last two majors. This time around we feel it impossible to leave them out of our staking plan. Louis Oosthuizen was the surprise winner of the Open two years back at St.Andrews and we can’t stress enough how much we love this guys game. You’ve heard it here first, this cool South African will win more majors. He owns the most fluid rhythmical swing in the game. It really is poetry in motion. The odd lapse in concentration cost him dear last week at the Scottish Open where he played some nice golf in warm up for Lytham. His runner up spot at Augusta only serves to enhance this fella’s confidence. He knows he’s at the top where he belongs. He possesses the tools this week to get around in a nice score and is crying out to be backed. Jim Furyk is an older head on ageing shoulders. If anyone deserves a 2nd major title this tee to green expert does. He came mighty close at last months UsOpen where he wilted with a few holes to go. He is more equipped than many to do damage this week. He has a decent record in Open Championships with his low ball flight proving a big advantage. He is fancied to go well again.

Advised: 1.75pts each way L.Oosthuizen 50/1 (best price)

              1.75pts each way J.Furyk 50/1 (best price)

We shall be returning tomorrow evening to give you our 3 outsiders who could easily give us a good run.

Until then, play well

2012 Open Championship (Part 2)
We are left with a couple of outsiders worth backing this week. Simon Dyson is well known to followers and he can be fancied to show well this week. He has a liking for links courses and although his form hasn’t been scintillating he has been playing solid golf in the run up to Lytham. He has had his game face on and will fancy himself this week.

Two others worth noting are Zach Johnson and Trevor Immelman. Zach has been playing great golf all year and undoubtedly has the game to succeed around here. He has a short swing and can hit the ball very low which will help in this weeks weather. He won last week and we expected him to be a lot shorter price than what he is. Trevor’s hasn’t really had much form to note so is a risky bet. However this week will suit his game and this major champion has done it before and is itching to get that winning feeling again. A decent record in Open Championships and we all know how cool these South Africans can be when in major contention.

Advised: 0.5pts each way S.Dyson 125/1 (best price)

0.75pt each way Z.Johnson 80/1 (best price)

0.5pt each way T.Immelman 250/1 (best price)

Enjoy the golf guys, it shall be fun!

All e/w with Paddy Power, paying out at 7 places.

0 |

why does westwood always talk up his chances before a major? it's like he's putting extra pressure on himself. he should say fuck all

I'm on Harrington at 18-1. Really fancy him to win this.

Maybe it was that price, can't access PP in work and it was last night when I stuck a wopping £2.50 e/w on!

0 |

All about booking Friday aff to watch the golf :)

0 |

i have a massive 40p e/w on paddy H. did the bet months ago, don't even nkow why. Maybe was a tad drunk or something

0 |

the only emotion I would get from winning a 40p bet @ 50-1 would be rage that I didn't have more on it.

0 |

i'll let you know how happy I am when i've only lost 40p

Tonzertoday @ 11:03 a.m.
I really fancy Padraig this week. Will back westwood too because I back him every tournament

same as

maybe colsaerts and f molinari too

0 |

Molinari's head isn't in it.
After his amazing day at the first round of the Scottish Open he just about managed to stay with the leaders, and ballsed up the play-off with Singh. There's something about Molinari's body language that suggests he doesn't think he's good enough, which beats him.

0 |

Anybody fancy Rory ?

0 |

have done jason dufner e/w and anders romero e/w too

0 |

Mickelson @ 28/1 hopefully worth a punt for each way, as someone said paddy power paying top 7 places each way.

0 |

been told to put few squid e/w on ross fisher and ernie els also

0 |

They unveiled a plaque to seve this week at lytham . Who did they get to do it? Colin Montgomery. Colin fucking Montgomery? What an absolute wank pot. Hateful prick unveiling a plaque to the legend ... shame on them

0 |

fuck cant wait for this now , friday may be gettin booked aff

0 |

Olazabal would have made more sense

0 |

0 |

static man, Colsaerts was indeed 80/1 - £255 if he wins. Fancy him for a decent high finish.

0 |

Colsearts was on my to do but didnt do list

Limited myself to

Hunter mahan 50/1

0 |

Sorry I don't even know wat day of the week it is

0 |

Paul Lawrie - 11/2
Simon Dyson - 7/10
KJ Choi - 15/2
Bo Van Pelt - 8/1
Robert Rock - 10/1

Top 10 finish odds

0 |

Robert Karlsson has withdrawn, you'd be seething if you were one of the players on reserve.

0 |

Tiger looking very good. Will be there abouts I thinks.

0 |

Maybe there's an argument that he's caught 'between Tours'? This is his first full PGA year, he's obviously altered his game to suit the air game, the more forgiving greens. He won't feature as highly on trophy wins when that's the case - being back on European Tour turf will just make his game more frustrating IMO. Much more to come from Rory but he's no Tiger Woods, which is the yardstick that every young up and coming new talent is unfairly measured.

0 |

Is he fistpumping like fuck?

0 |

GMAC on the charge

0 |

His attitude doesn't seem to be what it was when he was starting out trying to probe people he hadn't made the wrong decision turning pro when he did. Not sure complacency is the right word but maybe a good shake n told to get the fuck on with it at times. Needs more grind

0 |

Did five small bets:
Hunter Mahan
Ernie Els
Ian Poulter
M. Kaymer
P. Harrington
