1

Heading not this Saturday but next for 4 days. Been twice before but on Stags that only involve Tits, weed, pills and beer. Wouldn't mind actually getting to see the place this time. Tourist by day, hallion by night. Any info on things that are a must do greatly appreciated... cheers.

what a crazy place I felt like I was in a scene from fearing and loathing running around the red light district at night.

There is a Madamme Tussauds in the city centre.....you could check that out maybe?

Van Gogh museum is pretty class

I found Anne Frank's drumkit in a cupboard when we visited her house. Why they let her pactice that day ill never know.

- Canal tours are nice and relaxing, esp on a nice day
- Go and watch Ajax or do the stadium tour
- Go for a pint in Die Port van Cleve - www.dieportvancleve.com
- Do some record shopping in Rush Hour
- Get nicely toasted, then for a Wok to Walk

I would recommend seeing the rest of the Netherlands as the trains are chep. I've been to Utrecht (lovely place but not much there in terms of fun), Leiden (only a about 30 mins away and a university town), Rotterdam (Larne) and Den Haag a few times (posh tbf).
Then get back to Amsterdam and swallow a bag of bangers.

recommendations on places to stay folks?

www.stayokay.com/index...
stayed there the last time I was there Glenn, was a bit out of the centre but there was a tram stop right outside and the rooms were dead on to put your head down. Not fancy by any stretch of the imagination, also have the worlds funniest vending machine.......

0 |

Should have said its not just a boys trip :)

0 |

I have stayed in the Vondel hotel (nice boutique hotel) and the American (a bit fancy for the likes of me tbf) both near the liedseplien. I stayed in another one which was the other side of the Vondel park which was too far away from the liedseplien etc to recommend.

0 |

Niether are brothels btw

0 |

keep the recommendations coming. Not looking anything too fancy just not one that would be dive.
Mates 30th Birthday so going to be 2 or 3 couples away. Im only looking somewhere to put my head down and it will be a completely stoned out head. My gf aint a smoker though

0 |

i worked in Amsterdam in 2000 and found that the best places to be were just outside the city centre and looked like a doorway into a house except for the doormen. no names or anything above the door with a couple of floors catering for a variety of musical tastes. That was a while ago though and is probably of no use to you. but have fun etc.

0 |

if you can get a place in and around liedseplien, we stayed there but our hostel was a dump you'll be in a great place to explore the city from, lovey area as well

0 |

erm useful info ruairi just what i was looking

Mac - links or STFU

wondered what you were on about there Glen. Didn't realise you were keeping a thread going from before.

I was here in June. www.facebook.com/pages... Class night apparently. It's a night held at this venue. www.facebook.com/OT301... Not too far from Vondelpark.

That was my fourth time there and I didn't see one heur or coffee shop. I stayed with a local girl I work with and was prob the only tourist in the club that night.

0 |

don't get stoned.

0 |

day trip to Utrecht is worth the 40min journey. lovely spot.

two pubs that need to be visited are:

www.indewildeman.nl

and cafe-belgique.nl

0 |

can we lose our driving license for being drunk on a push bike, in amsterdam?

i need to know this. so i can warn people, obviously. nothing to do with me going there, and there being football on, and the fact that i might have hired a bicycle.

The Heineken tour is a giggle
