Shouts for the best pint of Guinness in Belfast?

Roddy's (league of its own, no contest)
Downstairs in the Glenowen - it's a kip but it's decent for football and the stout's great
Lavery's front and back bars
Garrick back bar
Duke of York
John Hewitt

Worst pints:
Fountain Bar
Other places I'm ashamed to admit I've been to

Cassidys Antrim Road

Our bottom bar can put out a great pint on a good day. The Chelsea has got to be one of the worst.

0 |

Forgot about Kelly's Cellars.

0 |

Garricks one of the best, Laverys in Lisburn is up there too

Nothing worse than a bad pint of it

0 |

garrick and spainaird i have enjoyed good guinness in. any bar worth their salt should be on top of this.

0 |

kellys in rotten for guinness

0 |

Garrick used to do a straight run Guinness, no cooler, keg was right under the bar. T'was a different drink altogether.

0 |

Baaaaallix. Any other establishments nearby do that?

0 |

It was the only time I heard of people doing it, wasn't a great success for them unfortunately.

0 |

Whites tavern, Garrick & Morning star are my favs

0 |

was it nice? I take it wasnt chilled and a bit like the old style stout bottles?

Is the beer club soon mmurray, make it happen

0 |

Kelly's is great for guinness

0 |

Never had a great pint in White's to be honest, I hate the place anyway. Was also really disappointed at the pints in the Crown, strangely enough.
Heard good reports about the Guinness in Maddens and St Matt's Short Strand

Neds in Holywood score highly for their Guinness

0 |

The best places are always the ones that sell a large amount of the stuff, so the taps are pretty much constant. Anywhere where theres a large gathering of aul bies usually is good, (i.e. golf clubs, rugby clubs, old man pubs)

Rose and crown and the parador.

Had an amazing pint of the black stuff in Nancys in Ardara, Donegal on wednesday night!
Glass was still creamy all the way down when I had finished it

0 |

john hewitt was always exceptional when i was living at home. laverys too

0 |

Kind of, Cleandirty - that's probably why the Guinness in the Roddy's is so good - those ex-chucks love their stout. But I've had some shite pints in bars which fit into your description and where you'd expect the Guinness to be nice, like Whites or the Fountain.

gravediggers in dublin is worth the visit, usually at peak time have around 10-12 pints waiting to go at the perfect time, like a conveyor belt of dreams. Said pub has been used in a lot of adverts for guinness and smithicks i think

0 |

Had a great pint in Duke of York. Most impressive Irish Whiskey collection I've ever seen too.

0 |

Roddys is a proper pub for Guinness drinking.

0 |

Where is this Roddys?

0 |

Nancy's do a cracking pint of Guinness alright.

0 |

Duke of York

0 |

Roddys is top of the shaws road in the glorious west

0 |

The Roddys is definitely the best I've had. Like silk.

0 |

Cutters is hands down the worst. I had a pint one afternoon and it made me proper ill. Ended up in bed for a day

i see the kittens are back, what'd sparcy do this time...

mmurray
yesterday @ 10:06 p.m.

Garrick used to do a straight run Guinness, no cooler, keg was right under the bar. T'was a different drink altogether.

AMPM in Upper Arthur Street have theirs set up like that too. the problem is that once the barrel is less than half full, it loses its temperature too much and it doesnt quite work. otherwise its good though

Guinness is the only drink you could describe as ethereal...splendid stuff.

0 |

Where's Roddy's?

0 |

never mind

0 |

Go to the Rods

0 |

the worst pint of guinness in belfast is in the bot when they give you it in the plastic pint glass because there is a big match on. which is the only reason why you should be in the bot in the first place.

Auntie Annie's actually does a decent pint downstairs. I find a lot of the city centre bars can be hit or miss. Was in Duke of York on Saturday evening and they were far too cold.

0 |

Auntie Annie's smells of hole and has absolute wankers Woking the door.

Usual spots above, Garrick and Hudson notable. Some hotel cars are good for a pint. Malone lodge did a great one and it's always nice to be served by proper bar tender in a waist coat.

0 |

Also black box is probably the best venue to get a pint in.

0 |

the back bar in the errigle does a nice pint of guinness.

0 |

Guinness in a plastic cup is a no no

0 |

I wasn't commenting on their staff or the general odour just that for me they produce consistently decent Guinness. And all door staff will be dicks if you openly consume bottles of Buckfast and start shouting about your 'human rights' when they kindly ask you to leave the premises.

That's huwmawn reets to you.
