Would a chocolate fountain burn?

0 |

uppa shankill

0 |

Piss forgot about this. Needed to go to asda but there's a huge feckin bonfire beside it :/

0 |

Might not bother and just go to house party this year.

0 |

Realistically whats the chances of me being chucked on the boney if I attended one of their soirees

0 |

What goes on at these apart from setting it on fire?

0 |

Why would you want to go?

0 |

Don't be a bigot Wayne

0 |

Set it on fire, stand around drinking, sing songs about killing people, if you're *really* lucky and you're in the right place, you might get a show of strength. Only seen that once.

0 |

I do like a nice show of strength.

0 |

Depends where you go. There was one I used to go to in a wee place Kings Moss. Was more of a family occasion, civilised, food stalls and carry outs a plenty everyone socialising the bit out. There are smaller ones too away from the main giant ones are generally good craic, usually built by a load of wee kids from a couple of streets as a wee summer project. Then there are others full of hallions, decks blasting cheesy music and WKD everywhere, someone invariably gets a kicking and millbags getting banged in the bushes. I find all generally good craic :)

0 |

Highfield is usually pretty rave-tastic!

0 |

The one in Glenvarna used to be full of hippies with flowers in their hair, strumming acoustic guitars, making love with their special someone and perhaps dropping trips.
It was beautiful to see everyone run free, with gay abandon on a clement summers evening.
Then 'they' closed it down after the big dig we had with the queenzees one year. Fuckin Queens Park cunts started it by stealing a load of our tyres.

0 |

Didnt realise you were Gtown. Im actually looking at a house in Glenvarna ;) ... lol @ Queenzees. Havent heard that in a while.

0 |

Nothing like a wholesome family bonfire.
'Mon now, Fido.

0 |

Glenvarna Dr born and raised. Queenzees are scum. If you move there, you'll learn to hate them.

0 |

show of strength is always creepy as fuck, kids standing about with packets of raiders while a group of grown men mess about with guns. I grew up in a loyalist estate and thought nothing of it until I hit my teens then I was like IS IT RITE LOL

0 |

Im lived in Ballyhenry round the corner lol and Sherwood. I was a higher class of hood lol. So Im all too familiar with your woes ;)

0 |

* I lived

0 |

packs of raiders >>> guns

New Mossley's is fooking HUGE this year. It's actually quite impressive how well they've built it.

Used to always see show of strength in the silverstream bonfire. They would often turn up near ardoyne with a large group of hoods and shoot their guns in the air then run away. Family friendly fun it wasn't

0 |

Ive been to the Mossley one a few times. Had to stop after a few on going fisty cuffs with a few locals there over the years but now my sister is to be married in to one of their families its like im one of their own. Decks, Cheesy music, WKD etc etc.

0 |

You playin the decks at the bony this year fido? Might pop round.

0 |

youd be loving an oul show of strength tho tbf

0 |

might dander round to the Ranch with a few warm ones

0 |

Was at the Woodburn bonfire in Carrick a good few years back and there was a 'show of strength'.

Never heard so many synchronised yeeeeoooos in all my life.

0 |

When I worked in mixmaster few big guys came in and asked if I would dj at the tigers bay bonfire. I said nah I'm going to the one at mt vernon

0 |

Show of strength in one hand and selling drugs to them in the other. Top Lawds.

0 |

Tbf they're not bad craic as long as you can ignore the blatant bigotry that goes on and the steaming over the top pradistism that the young'uns all try to out do each other in, it can be alreet, grab an aul dorty burger from one of the food stalls, find a comfy place to sit or stand, listen to the mobile disco bate out the happy hardcore, watch the kids have fun, drink some harp and get pissed and stoned with our mates whilst feeling slightly superior to the rest of the rabble all the while getting warmed from a ruddy great big fuck off fire and lets not forget the big yeeeeeeooooo when the pope goes up in flames

0 |

tbh I be well jel of the rave at these but will make up for it at the divis bonfire. Where 95% are there for the rave and bakes

0 |

It is a bit of craic tbh, but only if the weather is good. Carryout, loads of mates, few burger van burgers, bbqs, setting a load of shite on fire and looking at all the hallions of the day.

0 |

Good bakes an all, well sanctioned

0 |

They seem to be getting better as each year passes, went through a phase where it was a bit melty for while but now a lot especially round Newtownabbey are all about making it family friendly and the vast majority are there just for the craic of watching a big fire and having a beer

0 |

Tbf they have an Eco bonfire on the ballysillian road and it's purely for the kids with bouncy castles and all that so its Defo changing. That's one end of the spectrum though the one in mount vernon will have about 30 tricolours on it later tho with all sorts wrote on it. Not too mention a couple of hundred tyres

0 |

What is the agreement this year = no burning tyres aye?

0 |

Supposedly. Communities are rewarded for having the Eco style bonfires

0 |

wouldnt go anywhere that divis bonfire baz.

0 |

This thread is making me wanna party round the boney

0 |

Took my daughter to a day thing last year. Didn't want to but she saw a bouncy castle and wanted to go and I wouldn't let my beliefs stop her. They had face painting and few things and kids seemed to enjoy it but I found it bit grim, all the blokes just dumped their kids at the bouncy castle and went and drank carryouts and didn't do much to make me feel welcome. Want very welcoming and IMO not family friendly with the amount of drunk men shouting and cursing. Would be fine at night but not 2 o'clock in the afternoon at a family event. Sme other events in other areas didn't allow drinking I think which is how it should be

Still though it's a lot better than it used to be with no entertainment and people poised for a riot

0 |

I went up to the bonfire in silverstream a few years back, they weren't very welcoming to Catholics either lol

0 |

They have started to have fun days in areas around the shankill. All family orientated and no drinking allowed. Think some of the local churches are involved. Certainly a massive improvement on what has went on in the past.

0 |

I'll get them to stick some electro house on for ya dee

0 |

I was really impressed I have to say with the one on the ballysillian it really has tried to remove the scummy element that are at some of them so fair play to them

0 |

There was a well run one on shore road last year with no drinking also Glenn down by crues

0 |

Have they tonzer? That wouldn't be easy so fair play if they are doing that.

When I was a kid I would go to silverstream, crumlin, woodvale and sunningdale. All of them had shows of strength and rioting. Defo lot tamer now. Used to ask all the orange men for beer and they would give us cans. We were aged 12 and probably not great idea getting kids drunk in amongst riots. I'll never forget my first hangover was after the twelth and dancing with my mates in the streets

0 |

When they start serving smoked salmon canapes & champagne in a marquee then I'll consider it. Warm Harp & jakeys aren't my scene.

0 |

The one I went to up silver stream a couple of years back had a show of strength so we quickly split on lol. I just wanted to see what the fuss was about but got a load of dodgey looks from people cause they didn't know where we were from. The one on the ballysillian just down from boys model is spot on though. As I said its an Eco one. That can't be said for the majority of them round Belfast. I live off the ballysillian and to be honest there isn't hardly a flag up in the surrounding streets

0 |

Is a show of strength just two cunts shooting in the air?

0 |

No its Jonny Adair and Jimmy Nesbitt having an arm wrestle.
