Mine is the best thing I've bought in years. Use it constantly everyday in work and at home.

Those things you mentioned could easily be done better with a laptop though

0 |

x2, never thought I would use it as much as I do, theyre brilliant. I do find the wifi connection drops quite a bit though

0 |

My wifi never drops

You updated to latest OS?

0 |

havent a clue, its an ipad2 i think its an issue with them? will check the os

0 |

I was given one for work and don't know how to use it?? Any tips?

0 |

wifi on mine never drops.

i use mine for watching stuff in bed, since my laptop only works when plugged in. before that i never used it. because it was always handier easier and better to just use a laptop.

personally i would recommend against one.

it's not that you don't know how to use it. you just find it useless.

0 |

Perhaps?? Or maybe I am in not being able to use it?

0 |

Mine has replaced my laptop and laptop is used solely for djing

Watching netflix on it now linked up to telly and just finished a new poster with its photoshop app

0 |

anyone's guess darlin.

0 |

I can link my laptop up to TV too though. aLegend lol ;)

We had wifi problems with our first iPad. Kept knocking the whole wifi in the house off. 2nd iPad is a lot better so I guess they rectified whatever problem it was.

I use ours mostly to read books. Still prefer the laptop for websites. Toddler likes the apps but really, I don't have much use for it.

I love mine <3 good for work/presentations/emails/games/movies/spotify etc etc :) the screen/retina thingy is so great, I also love using mine as my laptop is a buggy piece of slow ass crap and this is just BING instant party timez

0 |

Buy one jailbreak it and you'll not have to give apple a dime and you'll be able to do a ton more with it, one of my fav gadgets OF ALL TIME

0 |

i dont have an ipad, but a smaller 7" tablet called the ainol aurora.

i love it so much

0 |

Had a go at one yesterday, no ability to view any films from the usual jw player, divx and anything else used frequently.

0 |

on the ipad? personally i think theyre overpriced

check out the new galaxy nexus tablet. im very android though so im definitely biased.

0 |

Mine is jailbroken but still buy some apps

It's real handy for me in work and iTunesU is great for my studying. Recently got a mic and guitar connector and using it as a vocoder for tracks then you can plug in guitar with hundreds of vintage amp combos. Do all my essays and assignments in pages, design in photoshop, make beats with imaschine, ilemur is class with ableton and Netflix

flipboard is brilliant an app that puts together web pages from news, music, twitter, facebook, soundcloud etc into a magazine format.

And best of all it's so portable and no moving parts which makes it solid and doesn't heat or break as much as a laptop

But if you only use a computer for browsing web and watching the odd film I do agree it's a luxury purchase, I debated getting one for a year until I was convinced I would get a lot of use from it

And android market is terrible, can only do a fraction of the things you do on iPad

0 |

and you have to pay for 99% of apps as well dont you?

fucking take on this it seems.

0 |

No, actually most are probably free then most I've bought are 99p

But it's easy to jailbreak then all apps are free

0 |

Muzka today @ 8:57 a.m.
But it's easy to jailbreak then all apps are free

*Most* of the apps are free. There is a good jalibroken app for the iPhone 4, kinda like find my iPhone but you can set the front facing camera to take a pic of some one trying to unlock it. Will probably feature in the App store at some point.

I have one of these Bluetooth jobs which makes it really robust and handy for typing essays etc

www.logitech.com/en-gb...

Was 30 quid

0 |

I only jailbroke mine for things like print, ifile & mame I tend to buy every game as they're dirt cheap and I like the hassle free updating through the AppStore

0 |

"And android market is terrible, can only do a fraction of the things you do on iPad "

Can you elaborate on this? The android market doesnt have the same quality checks on apps like the apple app store, but thats because google let anyone release an app as long as you pay the $25 developer fee.

but what can your ipad do that my android device cant? Im willing to bet its actually the other way round

0 |

Music, that's a major thing for me. None of the apps I use are available on android

0 |

Then education, I tunesu which has lectures and course videos from 1000s of universities round the world

0 |

thats a fair point, for music i would defintely go with an ipad.

0 |

Viewing movies online? You mean streaming, Netflix? Sure there's free apps for that and you just log in to your account. Ditto dedicated iplayer app. And I haven't handed over any money to apple since I got mine last July. Also, there's a jailbreak app called quasar that lets multiple windows open at one time, the retina display would be handy as fuck for that, one wee twitter window open, one bake book, safari, iplayer etc all at once.

0 |

Flip book sounds perfect for my work!! Nice run down Muzka!!

0 |

Right peeps, what apps do I need on my iPad? Buying one at lunch time today.

0 |

What's the battery life like on these yolks? Also is it worth buying the 3G version?

0 |

Note shelf for writing with a stylus handy for drawing and editing pictures manually

0 |

Battery is outstanding 9-10hrs takes a fucking age to charge mind wouldn't bother with the 3G version tbh unless you've a specific need for it as it adds a ton to the price

0 |

Only going for Wifi model myself.

0 |

Galaxy on Fire2 HD is cless, old skool elite type gameplay coupled with amazeballs graphics infact there's an absolute ton of quality games to be had on it

0 |

You picking up aN iPad 3 Wayne?

0 |

Yes I am RJ. Any more game recommendations would be much appreciated.

0 |

There's that many tbh. I'm playing Fibble at the mo from Crytek off all people, love the Broken Sword game on it and Monkey Island gaming I mainly use mine with Mame and icade, goto toucharcade for all your game reccomendations and reviews plus they list all the games that are on sale

0 |

Oh and pick up as big a size as you can afford, 32gb minimum tbh

0 |

The iwheaten app is superb I'm sure it looks the bees knees on the retina display

0 |

Can someone link a good guide for jailbreaking the iPad 3 with 5.1.1 on it

0 |

In the States atm and debating getting one and taking it back. Take it the only difference is the charger?

0 |

Yeah, just a different charger, the usb will work fine.
