wanting some info here on the legalities of buying shares.
I have just interviewed for a job with a certain company over here. They are pretty big and in the interview i got substansial info about their plans for the next financial year, i was told its extremely confidential yet signed no agreement.

their plans will mean big things for their share price, is it illegal for me to buy them, tell anyone about them and whats the consequences??

they might offer you some as part of the contract? ask them.

Doubt they would be giving overly secret info to someone that's at an interview and if they have then you have insider info with no legal binding contract to stop you using it

I think

well if i get the job ill be leading their entry into a new market so they had to obviously discuss it- i was suprised i didnt get asked to sign anything,
im nervous about buying anything and then getting the job and them finding out about it

"The third [type of behaviour] is where the [behaviour] (not [amounting to market abuse (insider dealing) or market abuse (improper disclosure)])-

(a) is based on information
which is not generally available to those using the market
but which, if available to a [regular user] of the market, would be, or would be likely to be, regarded by him as relevant when deciding the terms on which transactions in [qualifying investments] should be effected; and

(b) is likely to be regarded by a [regular user] of the market as a failure on the part of the person concerned to observe the standard of [behaviour] reasonably expected of a person in his position in relation to the market."

who are they? just out of interest

0 |

Its all to do with context. If they are a listed company you would have to declare the fact you bought shares before they offered the post and then it would be a very sticky situation for you as you would have to explain why you bought them.

FSA rules apply to financial institutions not individuals.

0 |

okay well i definitely wont be doing that then - dont wanna have to explain that - if i dont get the job ill tell you all who they are and we can all make some coin

The Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA) regulates investment activities undertaken in the UK and the Financial Services Authority (FSA) is the regulator appointed under FSMA to supervise firms and individuals involved in this area.

Yeah you need to disclose any shares as RP said.

0 |

leanne isnt based in the UK, she is in australia so rules could be different out there

Miner?

" is it illegal for me to buy them, tell anyone about them and whats the consequences"

come off it!

0 |

surely if thei hire you, and youhave to explain why you bought them, your explaination would just be thatyou have a great deal of confidence in the company to be able to grow, and confidence in your ability to drive that growth.

Which is a good thing? No?

0 |

Not likely - the person who shared the information, and didn't share it with the rest of the market investors would be seen to be involved in market abuse

0 |

If they hire me and i have to explain anything - i have no excuse other than I know what they are planning to do and was told that in a confidential meeting- dont think it will wash too well.

i dont think im even going to dabble with this one- i really want the job and dont want any awkward situations.
my brother is really keen to get loads but having the same surname as me, it probably isnt a great look either. dont think its worth it
shame really :(

you also have to declare if your siblings have shares.

Red Emperor Resources NL (ASX | AIM: RMP) is pleased to advise that the Shabeel

operator, Horn Petroleum Corp (TSX: HRN), is at a current depth of 1,967meters

zone is oil or water bearing and should be concluded within the next 24 to 48

to the base of the Jesomma sands to evaluate any additional lower Jesomma
potential pay zones.
