I have no idea what to look for. I just want something easy & comfy. Its only for cycling round N Belfast. What should I be looking for?
Popped into bikedock earlier and they had a nice pre-owned one, just my size, plus other new ones. Going back tomorrow to test some out but what brands etc are good?
Oh, am getting a kid trailer for the back too if the weight makes a difference to certain bikes...

BikeDock have always served me well.

0 |

You should check gumtree first

0 |

That's good to know. I know some people don't like them but they're super sports triathlon people, I'm not that fussy!

0 |

But how do you know what's a shit bike/brand and a good one? My mum bought me one about 5 years ago and it was so bad I only rid it once and stuck it out the back :/

Get something light.

I have this beauty in red and white
www.bicycledoctor.co.u...

But its so heavy! Didn't realise it was til I had a spin on someone elses. But tbh it's only ever out for an hour or so at a time. Need to get cycling more.

LOL @ cycling a fold up bike

Not nasty at all

0 |

any fella on one of them deserves beat by a gang of smicks and their bike torched

0 |

BMX or mountain bike, anything else isn't nasty

yes I know both are inefficient for cycling on roads, thats how we roll

0 |

+1 on Deckard

0 |

a bike being efficient for road use has never been on my list for getting one.

just look at it as extra training

0 |

Nasty x100

0 |

aye, leg training just

weights for upper body

0 |

awesome stuff ryan nasty

On a related note, the bik ei originally had now costs 150 quid more so I have 150 more to work with on my insurance claim. Even fancier foldable bike to be had now!!

0 |

That doesn't really help J-Lo, does it?

0 |

Heh not really but a good reminder. I will def be putting them on the house insurance.

The guys in chain reaction cycles are really friendly, they seem more like a regular style shop which might be less imposing if you're a bit of a beginner than going into a smaller specialist shop.

My mate got a s-works venge last week, fucking chub-worthy to say the least

That's class looking.

Getting a bit fed up with my bike at the minute, back wheel got a bit messed up and I'm skint so I let the shop put some 65euro no brand thing on. Flat tyre on the same wheel today. Think I'll get some kevlar tyres..

0 |

Going to chain reaction tomorrow after having a look at their site. Trailer is cheaper with them than bike dock so a good start.

The pre-owned one I was looking at was Specialized and seemed to have good reviews. Gonna test it out on Thursday hopefully.

I want this

www.graze.com

Stussy 'how I roll racer'

I could take enjoyment in bashing hipsters bawlbags off the road on their wirey flimsy bikes

0 |

lol at that link fail

www.stussy.com/us/stus...

1 |

Ha Nik ye wee Graze nut gobbler.

0 |

Was linking them to my mate

I love them, especially the flapjacks and chutney dips

1 |

Not as much as I love that bike though

1 |

Here J-lo, drop me a pm, I'll get ye sorted.

I'm only after sorting Fiona a bike lol

Dont worry, I know you dont want a road bike lol.

if i was a girl looking a bike, first things first, it would have to have a basket on the front of it.

0 |

Was gettin punctures all the time cycling past odyssey and through city centre. Got gator skin jebs and rarely get a flat these days.

0 |

I stuck the schwalbe marathons on the gf's bike for the same reason, she kept getting slow punctures.

@alegend, a folder with a basket on the front?

0 |

lol @ Gator jebs, tough titty

0 |

Slow punctures 9/10 times are caused by pinch flats though. Going over something will usually flat a tyre pretty sharpish (pun intended)

0 |

Rubbish lemac. A pinch flat, or snakebite will go down very quickly. Slow punctures tend to be minute holes in the tube or possibly a faulty valve. Air will permeate rubber naturally so all tyres will go down over time. It;s why aircraft use nitrogen in their tyres. Actually Kwikfit offer it as an extra for cars too. The nitrogen molecules are bigger so don;t permeate the rubber as quickly, and are more stable when hot.

0 |

well all I know is, its gone from punctures to the odd bit of air in the tyres to keep them right. The Rubena thornproof ones are decent too, if a bit heavy.

0 |

Took it down to the shop this morning, guy said the tyres where well due changing and are causing flats. Fair enough.

Indeed. It comes in handy when you pop out to the shops. Cycling a few miles home with 2 bottles of wine in the basket trying not to break them is fun.

LOL @ that bike you linked up Nik. Anyone paying $1200 for that piece of shit deserves the stroke being put upon them.

"100% metal frame & components w/rubber tires."

You'd like to think so for that price. Complete joke asking for that money for a bike like that.

0 |

It says Stussy on it.

0 |

It doesn't even look nice. A wee specialized p20 FTW, probably only cost about 400 too.

0 |

wow a 100% metal frame you say? fawncy..

I hate those 85% metal frames.

0 |

Best looking bike linked imo

I hate those chunky road racing bikes and hipster bikes even more

Didn't say i was buying it but i really like it.

0 |

And the price probably comes from the fact its a limited run and of course you could get an equally built bike for half the price.

It's a luxury purchase no doubt

0 |

It's the bmx equivalent of www.thebureaubelfast.c... IMO.

www.cyclestore.co.uk/p... one of these yokes, still leaves you 700 squids to buy a rake of stussy tshirts

0 |

My bmx is way nicer, better and cost 1/3 of the price. Wee beaut.
fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamai...

0 |

Lol it's hardly the equivalent of those shoes. That would be of those gay skinny french looking bikes hipsters with thick glasses ride

0 |

That bike would be around 700 quid so you'd have 250 left after buying that bike lemac

Both nice bikes Ryan and lemac

0 |

Specialised, giant, trek, they all make good bikes, that's why they sell so many, a bit like the ford focus really

0 |

I mean they are all "me too!" bikes
Oh and nitrogen is not a bigger molecule than oxygen, it is smaller by 4 da
You moron

0 |

"@alegend, a folder with a basket on the front?"

na, girls have more options when it comes to the quaint and quirky. there are other cool looking bikes for girls, the coolest bikes for guys who want to be a bit different are folders.

0 |

Folano, atomic radius decreases going across a period. Oxygen is heavier, but smaller.
