Best steak in Northern Ireland

1

Hit me up! Got a few quid coming my way this month and haven't had an excellent steak in ages.

So far, I'm thinking the Tannery in Moira.

I have a large sirloin for breakfast every Saturday morning, eat it on its own on a chopping board with a carving knife. I can post some pics. How do I post them up here

i love a good tuna steak these days. Especially if has the right seasoning.

I can tell they do good steaks just by looking at that picture on their website Poo Poo.

I had the sirloin steak of my life in Coco about 2 years back

You local butcher and home oven

0 |

Some butchers are actually pretty rubbish... one near me on Lisburn Road is no good for steak!

0 |

Go all lector about it...decapitate dusted and serve his steak head up for dinner

I'm with decks, doesn't take an amazing chef to cook a steak. It's all in the quality of the steak

Though I like mine seasoned, coated in garlic, little ginger and chilli mixed in olive oil. Left overnight in fridge then chucked into a very hot frying pan with no oil. Cooked rare and left to rest before eating

Yum

only a matter of time before some spacker posts

"cooked to perfection*

Spidiest saying about steak

pavlov, that would be top drawer with some fresh vegetable enema juice

The question is, ribeye, sirloin or fillet ?

0 |

Tight bastards! I wanna go out and treat myself. Have the food cooked for me, served in nice surroundings, treat the girlfriend too, make a night of it, no dishes to clean after.

0 |

JL, if it's teh tannery, I'd go for the 8oz fillet and 8oz sirloin.

Love fillet, absolutely love it!

0 |

Thats so romantic giving her a night off from the dishes, is there a proposal afoot ?

0 |

Fair point Wayne

I was always fillet but now I prefer sirloin or even a t bone. Even though I don't eat the fat it adds to flavour when cooking IMO

0 |

LMBO!! I meant no dishes for me ffs!
She has the life o' reilly when she's round mine.

0 |

Tannery is brilliant. JSJ B&G though......

The Slieve Donard in Newcastle

McHughs did a nice one, though I think I heard it was no more??

0 |

gotta be fillet steak and one of the best is Windrose Carrick although truly the best steak i ever did eat was in a wee restaurant called Brogans in Trim county Meath www.brogans.ie huge locally sourced Irish Fillet served sealed and on a hot stone for you too cook as you like, outstanding grub

0 |

The Catalina Restaurant at Lough Erne Resort. Top notch munch all round, steak especially.

0 |

Where in town does a t-bone steak?
Never had one.

0 |

Makulu 5 in bangor do a 20oz rump thats petty awesome though they tend to overcook it a bit so ask for it rare and it's come medium

0 |

Sounds good though id be put off if they can't cook it as ordered. So many places can't cook steak how you ask for it

0 |

Going to Goodman in Mayfair next weekend, heard great things about their steaks. Anyone been?

0 |

that annoys me Muzka, i like my steak medium rare and normally comes out overcooked which i'll send back, you then get sent out a poorer quality cut usually cooked right

0 |

nik hitting all sorts of nails on the head in here

0 |

A lot of it is local knowledge, I always second guess the chef at l'Etoile and ask for mine medium knowing fine rightly it'll come out medium rare which is what I wanted in the first place.

0 |

Shu or Coco for me.

Never eat in mchughs. Complete shite. Unfit to be called food.

0 |

Surpised nobody has been weston-ed on their hot stones. Health & safety nightmare

0 |

@tคккเรςђเtt you talking about the bit of steak you had to cook yourself on the volcanic slate?

Best steak Ive had in N.Ireland was prob in the Ballyrobin Country Lodge near the international airport

Looking forward to this Goodman place, one of the best steaks in London apparently :D

0 |

la boca did a good fillet steak when nez was workin there

0 |

Looks good, be sure to ask for daddies brown sauce on the side

0 |

Bronte steak house between banbridge and newry. Out in the arsehole of nowhere but steaks are great

0 |

Porterhouse beside shu has always been a favourite of mine, Rib eye pan fried well done or fillet pan fried medium. Both with tobacco onions obviously. Dunno if they still do the garlic cream and king prawn butter but it was great.

0 |

Wouldn't advise going to la boca for a steak anymore, the new head chefs a vegetarian ffs

0 |

my bro took the rents to some swanky steak place in landan the last time they where over and it had a big board on the wall listing all the different cuts of meat by the lb, had loads my da says so when he said give me a 15oz fillet the price was somit like £80 just for the meat, cant remmy the name of it mind

Can't emphatically say it's the best steak in the North but I really enjoyed my steak in the Porterhouse on the Lisburn Road.

0 |

0 |

Heard the porterhouse head chef left and is now at the whitefort

0 |

RJ Macready is it the Hawksmoor by any chance? nom

0 |

The Wind Rose in Carrick is where I've had the best steak in NI. Top quality stuff. Closely followed by the one I got in the bar at The Manor House Hotel.

0 |

If you're willing to travel to Derry, try the fillet steak in this place...

www.brownsrestaurant.com

My favourite restaurant and the food in general is mind bogglingly good, but the fillet steak in there melt in the mouth tbf tbh.

Scalinis, medium to well, garlic butter pepper sauce and garlic potatoes. BOOM!
