Property / House Hunting

1

Thought I'd start this as a general thread for this sorta shiz.

I have heard that one can get access to crime stats etc for certain areas and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.

lol bet this just becomes a west vs east vs north vs south debate again :)

Hopefully not and you get some proper help. Pessimist gave me good info before but was more financial details involved rather than advice on the best areas to buy in. Maybe drop him a pm

Anywhere takki moves too will see a spike in crime n a lowering of house prices

0 |

And a local paedo hunt as a sex offender he has to go round everyone's doors

0 |

Lol just remembering big lebowski

0 |

I'd be quite interested in this too actually, I'd like to live in north Belfast because it would suit me perfectly location wise but some of it is a wee bit dodge innit?

0 |

East Debbie.. East.

0 |

Yeah I did quite like living in the east tbh, but north is closer to work and my wee mammy.

0 |

Any part of north in particular? Like every part of Belfast it has good and bad parts

Do you mind if it's prod or catholic or preferred mixed?

0 |

lol Discodave... don't forget I know where you live.

Ideally I'd like to move somewhere close to Nik Muzka as if I'm going to become a top sex predator in Belfast, I might as well learn from the master himself.

0 |

My doors are always open, I could do with a new project and need to pass on this knowledge

0 |

I'd love to live Lisburn Road area, but the prices are a bit too steep for what I'm after... though I may have to just sacrifice a few things of my wishlist.

0 |

I loved living on Lisburn road, if you are willing to live nearer Windsor and bottom of tates you could get a good deal or why not look at finaghy

0 |

nah, not really Nik, I don't care where it is really.. as long as the area is decent and the property is right with good transportation links and potential rental opportunities.

0 |

Defo look on along the risburn road at finaghy, dunmurry etc

0 |

Finaghy is great takki

0 |

aye, have seen some decent enough places in and around Great Northern Street... would like to get off street parking if possible though.

0 |

Yeah, been looking at Finaghy too... think Dunmurray would be a bit further out than I'd want.

0 |

lol u know where I live Takki?

0 |

up where discodave is is nice. maybe a bit steep tho.

0 |

I've been to your house before. Gave someone a lift who was either selling you something or buying something off you.

Can't remember what it was though.. a mixer maybe?

0 |

U need serious kudos and capital to live anywhere near me.

I rule North Belfast with a firm fist and a gentle fingerbang

0 |

why didnt you call in you ignoramous?

0 |

Didn't want to leave the car... looked like a dodgy area.

0 |

www.ninis.nisra.gov.uk...

0 |

Honey, you're amazing.

0 |

Lol

0 |

You're welcome :)

0 |

Government crime statistics meh! Whatever happened to just checking if the kerbs where painted red/white/blue or that other colour, that was all you needed to know if an area was sound

0 |

Report for my area..
.
23.8% were under 16 years old and 17.3% were aged 60 and over;
6.1% were from a Catholic community background and 88.8% were from a 'Protestant and Other Christian
.
It would appear those 16y.o. Need to get stuck in a bit more and get rid o that 6.1% that's blighting the area

0 |

RJ the turbo hun.

0 |

You best be sporting Jubilee socks when you come into Newtownabbey big lad

0 |

I could be totally missing something here but does anyone know of a site where people can review an area to live in?? Crime stats scare the shite out of me.. When I compare them to places I have experience of they don't seem to weigh up.. Peoples personal experience would be wat better IMO.
Best I can find is searching hotels in areas I'm looking at and seeing what people say about the neighbourhood :-s

Anyone recommend a good value solicitor/conveyancer?

Also, any one with good contacts in regards building work, joinery, glazers, electricians, plumbers and plasterers?

Not asking much here leek.

0 |

you looking to buy a fixer upper and have someone come in and sort it out?

0 |

Only the major work mate... I'll be doing as much as I can myself.

Seen somewhere that is in a great location and if I can get it for the right money I will be able to have some funds left over for the upgrades which will add more value to the house than they cost anyway... trying not to get excited/hopes up. =/

0 |

I'll keep you right in the building side of things.

got loads of people there you could use.

also if you're looking to build an extension give me a shout ha

0 |

Maybe not an extension, but possible slight design alterations.

Will keep you in mind Baz, and not just for you raw sex appeal.

0 |

your

0 |

i can get you a plumber and a spark. I used ferguson solictors on lisburn road beside shu

0 |

Im responsible for a lot of the crime attributed tomy area so it doesnt bother me as much.

You could get something on the lisburn road takki, I lived there 6 years odd back and prices then were scary but now itd be grand old duke of york.

Depending on what youre after.

0 |

lol @ raw sex appeal

let me know sure. Any plans you need I could sort ya.

www.propertynews.com/P...

theres a bt9 classic

0 |

You recommend them all Mark?

Lisburn Road has come down shit loads, but the properties are still a bit small and I'm not too fussed on parking on the street. Great location though.

0 |

yes all did work on my house now plus my previous place. plumber put in new bathroom were id changed everything about. spark put up new lights and fitted the shower. Have a good joiner to but hes always flat out so hard to get.

0 |

Anybody been in The Arc or the obel tower? hoping to get an apartment in one of those two next year.

0 |

Cheers Mark!

'Get' as in buy? Apartments confuse me greatly. I've yet to be in an apartment block which is over 10-15 years old that doesn't look terrible and appear to be really run down, yet some cost more than a nice house (albeit out of town a bit).

Surely you'd be better looking at a house lad, now you're driving and all? :)

0 |

Takki whats your budget?

Ive got a really good semi here.

My house is a nice number and all.

0 |

Apartments suck hole

0 |

apartments are a terrible investment.

0 |

Don't buy a fixer upper as your first home.

Despite what estate agents say, North Belfast will always be populated by mutants

Rosetta FTW
