didnt want to start a new thread

the left touchpad button has become unresponsive on my sony vaio. it still works but you have to press really hard and its getting pretty annoying and i just want it fixed. is there an easy way around this or if need be is it cheap to fix? the other mouse button works fine as does the touchpad.

Had a problem with the power port on my laptop... lweft in and got it replaced. All went fine for a few hours then I lost signal to the screen.

I thought maybe there was a loose connection or something... they are now chatting about replacing the motherboard...

Is there any way of determining if they damaged the motherboard in the initial repair?

or should I just shell out for the replacement motherboard...

or best just to get a new laptop?

Impossible to prove and motherboards going tits up isn't exactly in the realm of observational science, personally id weigh up the cost of repair, the age of the laptop vs a brand new machine.. If you have the tools and patience replacing the motherboard isn't too difficult

the fact that is has went tits up is entirely in the realm of observational science... its not like it schrodingers motherboard... the question was really can I point the finger of blame onto the repair shop.

but i'm assuming you're telling me there is no way to assign blame on this one.... I'd probably stump up for the repair... much cheaper than a new machine

Pavlov I had this exact situation with an old machine of mine. I left it into a repair shop on the Lisburn road to have the power socket replaced. When I got it home and turned it on the screen worked for a while then went just went blank. The cynic in me thinks that the connection was deliberately fiddled with so I just bought a new one.

The guy that Wax Fingers recommended sorted this laptop out and its still going strong 2 years later. Very reasonable as well so may be worth letting him have a look at it.

Fuksakes a man of your caliber can certainly afford a new laptop, hell did you even pay for the one that's broke you'd like to think earthquake prediction would have access to top gear for predicting and stuff
