Bit coconut-y ?

She was Indian, it would have been rude not to see if it was a bit spicy.

It wasn't.

gherkin

today @ 11:32 a.m.

I ate out an indian in Newcastle for the first time last week and it was surprisingly lovely.

Fair play, its not every man likes it to be known he muff dives

0 |

bona fide grub destroyer cull... The physique to prove it too lol.

0 |

Dunno why but LOL @ (I've eaten chinese food in quite a few countries to be able to compare with)

0 |

Abacus
Water Margin
Silk

Chicken Curry and chips is too boring after a while. I love a good singapore chow mein.

0 |

where are these places? never heard of them. i get other things from time to time but a chicken curry and chips is a classic, cant beat a chinese curry.

0 |

chinese curry is no good at all, wouldnt have it near me!!

0 |

You judge a Chinese on its chips and chicken curry? that's a shit dish ;)

I never order chips apart from a curry chip if walking about

Saying that chicken curry and chips was always my choice as a wee kid

0 |

Abacus is on Malone
Water Margin is bottom or Ormeau
Silk is out Saintfield road

There's another one that is the best of the lot but I can't remember the name and it's a bit out of town. Met Eamonn Holmes in it one night. He knows his Chinese the fat cunt.

Abacus probably the nicest of those 3.

0 |

chinese cant make curry , and chinese definitely cant make chips , benchmark , nuff said

0 |

i know there are more extravagant and tasty things to get, and i have, but i just love the good aul chicken curry and chips. maybe ive asked the wrong question. where are the best chineses then? so far gaze on ormeau road is king of the castle but i reckon there are some serious gems out there

0 |

Dog is my choice of dish when it comes to the Chinese!

0 |

thought the water margin was shut?

Chow Mein is a good benchmark dish. Should be fresh crunchy veg, no gloopy shit and noodles that aren't falling apart.

0 |

this thread is shite

0 |

I always go by sinagore chow mein, gives a cross section of meats (big prawns a give away) and how much decent veg they use.

0 |

haha, all i want is curry perfection. is that too much to ask?

0 |

My mates family owns abacus. Used to love when having a sesh and he would phone and get us a ton of food. Only time I ever got the half crispy duck and pancakes with hoi sin.

Hmmmm free food

0 |

I used to love ordering a curry chip and a tin of coke to get delivered when I was younger. Good tiemz.

0 |

duck and pancakes with hoi sin and spring onions. epic

0 |

Used to go to gaze a lot but thought it went down hill

My missus still likes it

0 |

it did go downhill a bit but their beef and black bean is still essential. nice enough chips too

0 |

gaze used to be epic for a cheeky midweek dinner. btl of wine and dinner for two sat in, for less than 30 notes all in.

I dunno if changed chefs or owners, menu needs a bit of a revamp too, getting a bit tired.

The dragon ribs are fucking outrageous though.

0 |

dragon ribs you say.......

0 |

this has nothing on the kebab thread and related discussions

0 |

Silks a very good punt, not perfect...chips could be better, but a very good chinese.

0 |

well that's Chinese chips for ye though, innit.
They do the gunpowder, the paper, the imminent world domination etc and we look after the chips.

0 |

They don't cook the chips in silk. It is nice though, order your chicken curry then nip round to the chippy. Sorted

0 |

I know what I'd rather do better

0 |

Silk on the Saintfield Road is stinking, the Harmony Inn is much better, their chips are amazing.

0 |

Better still, order salted chilli chicken and a tub of curry and a chip from the chippy

0 |

I was only in Silk the once and it was good. Also got a kebab out of the wee place next door on another recommendation off here. It was alright too but nothing special.

Used to do dishes in my mates familys chinese restaurant, free food ate more than i earned. Until fateful millenium night we got the keys for the downstairs bar, was a millenium party upstairs. Got bottles of goldslagher from behind the bar to see who could drink most. I won. Climbed up the stairs, fell down the stairs, ambulance was called, spent the night and mos of next day in hospital. I can never go back not even in a consumer capacity. Miss the satay

Nice work static man!

I also went with a girl who worked in the welcome and would bring me food after work. The stuff never had a name, was just a dish the chef would make me and wasn't on the menu. Proper chinese dishes and totally beaut

0 |

I have yet to go to the Welcome

*Jots down in diary*

0 |

I'm friends with the girl who's family own welcome

One night I started an argument between my two mates, one who's fam own abacus and the other the welcome. I asked as a joke who does the best curry chip and a funny drunk argument between them ensued with them both taking the huff with each other

Spoof

0 |

Yes, that would be an amazing spoof to make up. Two people arguing about a curry chip. Epic

0 |

There used to be a great chinese at the shaftsbury sq end of botanic ave, big glass windows used to go every friday night after work, cant remember name, is it still open?

0 |

Lee Garden?

0 |

Yeah think that was it alright j roc, it still open?

0 |

Used to be chep as curry chips too, we frequented it in the student days for anyone's birthday

0 |

Jadehau5, Glen Road.

0 |

did that used to be called cheungs? cheungs chicken curry and chips were great, despite it being a complete shit hole

0 |

yeh i had one kebab fro the pizza place, definitely wouldnt go back, it was edible but thats it.

the nepalese place at the top of jesus loves me yes i know cos i come from breda road gives the worst value ive ever seen anywhere.

0 |

+1 for Harmony Inn the chips are top notch for a chinnizle establishment, good salt and chilli chicken, Peking sauce is delicious and the thai spicy soup is grrrrreat. Smoked chicken is too sweet though.

0 |

Cheungs used to do massive portions!! Breast of chicken chips & gravy couldve fed you for a week!!

Starlight at the top of the ormeau road does a great curry 1/2 1/2. Think thats more of a bench mark on how good a chinese is!!
