Ipod docks or Bluetooth speakers

1

Anyone recommend a reasonable set for around the £50 mark?

I realise I won't get anything mind blowing for that budget, but just wondering if anyone has picked up any bargains recently. Want to avoid the likes of Technika and Gear4 stuff.

It's just for a bedroom, so doesn't need to be that powerful either.

I know this is over £50 but its a bargain and a cracker dock!!!

I recommend it though. Bluetooth. Lie in bed with your phone and the music blasts out of the speakers. Can use iPad too so tv/games sound is brill.

Ive got this, pretty awesome and the battery life is great.

I've a Klipsch iPod dock and its very good! Think Muff may have recommended it to me a while back. Was £50 manufacturer reconditioned and it sounds great. Loads of bass out of it too!

bluetooth streaming gives shit sound quality so waste of a good speaker...

get these...http://www.gak.co.uk/en/behringer-ms-40-pair-digital-monitors/1088

and is...http://www.play.c...

connect via optical input on active monitors and stream your music via Apple Airplay.

Crisp streaming, crisp digital audio connection to speakers and crisp clear sound from active monitors.

all for under £200 notes...

and when the hack comes for your apple tv 3 you can use it for countless other things...

sorry, working links

Yeah - fuck bluetooth = put me off straight away. That sounds like a sweet way to do it above. Do u just connect appletv to your router?

0 |

But it'll be streaming from an iPhone/iPad. Waste of money spending big on output if the source isn't up to scratch.

Got this badboy a while back,

Streaming from iphone/ipad/laptop = what's wrong with that?

0 |

my itunes library or spotify are both streaming 320kbps from my ipad, iphone to the speakers...

if i was doing the same via bluetooth sound quality would be rubbish...

0 |

aye Ron, Apple tv has built in wifi so just connect the apple tv to your wifi network same way as you would connect any ios device and then you can steam anything to your tv...music, photos, videos, mirror whats on your iphone/ipad screen on the tv etc...

but for sound those monitors are great for the price and there are very few others with an optical input..

0 |

Ive done the bluetooth thing and notice a drop in quality but only slight and usually more to do with the volume. Also my spotify never streamed at 320 - am i missing something??

0 |

I got a orbit sound bar with a sub for the TV there which has a dock on it as well. Does the jeb rightly. Got it for £120 cos I bought a new TV as well, think they're normally near £300.

0 |

sorry, prob confused things dave...ive spotify premium which lets me sync albums, playlists etc for offline play and allows a range of bitrates up to 320kbps...

i meant i was streaming these offline albums to the speakers rather than streaming direct off spotify..

0 |

ive the same lad, and they've changed the format recently so I cant see exactly what they are letting me stream offline at.

However, im interested in your thoughts on the bluetooth loss of sound as im quite particular about that without being in zygote's league.

Im running a bluetooth box with cambridge analogue interconnects through a Rockit active monitor. What are your views?

0 |

actually just checked my settings on spotify app for iphone/ipadand you can stream directly in 320 aswell as the offline stuff..

on your spotify app go to more, then settings, then you have settings for 'stream' and 'sync' and there is normal, high and extreme. extreme = 320...

0 |

Ahhh was wondering what extreme was, cheers lad

Whatabout my bluetooth set up lad?

0 |

your setup sounds great, apart from the bluetooth bit...KRK rokits? what number? regardless they would be better performance than the behringer ones i linked above but then they are quite a bit more expensive...

if you have lots of iOS devices i suggest you ditch the bluetooth and buy an apple airport express then connect it via 3,5 jack to your KRK's and stream over your wifi network using Airplay. I guarantee you will hear a big difference, especially with speakers as good as KRK's!

if you dont use iOS devices and use android etc then ignore everything above and carry on as you are...

0 |

See while we're on the topic of speakers etc.... can anyone recommend a decent but not too expensive pair of speakers to take on holiday with me? Need something not too bulky to fit in the wee suitcase.

0 |

whats the budget ryan?

ore.apple.com/uk/produ...

those are great on a low budget, and very portable..

0 |

Cheers lad, the rockits are 6s, werent bought for this reason but found it very useful. Im just using to play through android phone (so spotify remote control, brilliant) n laptop non apple

0 |

yeah stick with the bluetooth in that case for now...though i see that airplay may be supporting android in the near future...

Sweet lad cheers, its just practical right now, £30 for.a box means affordable to buy a few n put in different rooms hooked in to different set ups

0 |

muhcrea, if you read this, for the car for £50 you can buy a cd player with line in and usb socket to replace your original one. its not the difficult to do.

having usb socket in my car put an end to all those cds lying everywhere, in fact i biunned my whole cd collection when i got it

0 |

I'd love to fit a usb in my car but it's a big fucking pain replacing the stero unit:
