Ireland Squad

1

Not long now. Massive massive fan of trap but his squad wouldnt be my personal choice. Starting to hope he will start gibson, not sure who for, probably andrews

Does Green play well to warrant a place in the squad, never hear any good reports. Would love Ian Harte too but 1/2 seasons too late

Really has to give Mc Lean the nod over hunt. Would take coleman as backup for wing and fullbacks

In Trap We Trust!!

Footballs Greatest Managers - Trappatoni

Class hearing him talk about the Ireland job, this man has unfinished business on the international stage. 1-0 Ireland win over Germany in the final, Robbie Keane scorer

For me

Coleman - in
McLean - in
Gibson - in

those three could bring a good freshness to the squad. some players don't merit a place at all based on club form, green and hunt as you say.

Stubborn as a mule is trap it will be a disgrace if hunt goes over mcclean, even of hes only a squad player he provides something different

This was the likely squad from a month or two back (unsure of injuries)

Goalkeepers: Given, Westwood, Forde

Defenders: O'Shea, Kelly, Foley, Dunne, St Ledger, O'Dea, Ward

Midfielders: Duff, Whelan, Andrews, Fahey, Gibson, Green, McGeady, Hunt

Strikers: Keane, Doyle, Long, Cox, Walters

Think Doyle/Long/Walters will be great at closing down the Italian and Spanish teams.

Trap has the beatings of the Italians and if anyone can nullify the slick passing of the spanish its TraP and the Irish

Come on you boys in green!!

Not too fussed on the form of O'Dea and Ward at the minute. The fitness of Richard Dunne is a massive factor in how far we will go.

all in all, that squad has done amazing to get to the finals. i hope they do us proud.

0 |

O dea's been sent back to celtic, disappointed he hasnt tried to introduce mccarthy at the expense of andrews.

0 |

Want to see more of Mc Carthy too, think Clarke from A/Villa will be a great player in the future, need some defenders to come through

Hoolahan wouldve been a good addition, think theres another Irish player in the Norwich squad. Green is a massive mistake unless hes good for morale or something ;)

Cant bloody wait. Might head down to the Bosnia friendly

think so too sparcy, been in good form and was always the one player that trap wanted to get more footy. When he came on against the Italians a few years ago he played like a quarter back can see this being a tactic used by Trap to get our fast forwards around the back of defences.

Hows the Irish fella at the toffees doing, Duffy? didnt he go out on loan. Wish that Trap steals young ferguson from the north, will be a cracking player

lol @ Harte

0 |

Hartes been superb past two seasons for Reading. If he was a few years younger and playing in PL he would be a starter for me, great technique and class at setpieces, better than ward at present. Maybe a callup for Ferguson instead, we all know he's waiting for it ;)

you should do standup, pilky

0 |

and you should sitdown and shutup rushy (i guess you still dont get out much ;) )

0 |

Ciaran clark has to be in there

James McClean simply has to go, irelands most outstanding player this year in the premier league. I'd love to see Coleman, Gibson, Duffy and Houlahan in the squad aswell. Think there may be a big result in ireland, i just hope it is early against Croatia so as to build some momentum.

McClean and Gibson representing NI, I knew we'd get there somehow. Cheers lads.

Given
O'Shea St Ledger Dunne Harte
Duff Andrews Gibson McClean
Keane Long

Harte aint going. Did you know see the feature on SS news yesterday? Trap didnt even know he was Irish lol. And hasnt played since in a few years.

0 |

the squad is far from the best irish players about, green & cox shouldn't be there on form (although cox has always looked the part when playing for ROI). Gibson has to start, with Andrews, who looks a different player since he moved clubs.
harte has been good for reading, but i can only imagine how slow he is now given he was going backwards 10 years ago.
mclean has to go.
i think ireland have a chance of scraping through.

I'll take the bate fido, Gibson was told that he would never play football for ni again after going on trials at united when he wasn't supposed to. He signs for united and begins to play for roi underage setup, as soon as they realised he was going to make it they accused roi of poaching him. Tough shite ifa. As regards McClean I can completely understand why he chose to move as he would feel no affiliation towards ni having grown up watching and supporting roi all his life.

No you don't understand, apparantly if you are born up here, have any ideas of playing at international level but don;t fancy standing for GSTQ, you and your family have to piss off across the border (before you start school obv) and use their cones and bibs etc. God forbid youd use up the resources of the IFA. How would they have any money left to sack people and pay them half a million quid for the privilege?

Dribbling spastic alert ^

0 |

I don't even bother with such balls anymore tbh.

0 |

me neither bro. you for the Setanta final?

0 |

See Stephen Ireland istalking about playing again. Would you take him or see if he merited a place after? Leave him out myself.

0 |

Definitely not, fuck him. Hasn't exactly been on sparkling form anyway.

Im away on holiday hr :(

But im for the IC final the week before v IFAield.

Very thin squad for the game against Germany on Friday, could be in for a hammering, same with northern ireland
