Zombie Survival

1

This is pretty damn cool. This could come in handy at some stage within the next 20-30 years, so you'll thank me for it later (if I'm not a zombie).

As an island nation, people will flee Europe and the UK in boats - so we have to be ready to pick them off on the beaches.
Fight them on the beaches, as it were.

0 |

mate come the zomb apoc I'm straight to Carrick and into thon castle, I'll let you in as you can bate the tunes out to drown out the dead at the ole portcullis

0 |

by the looks of it you would stand a much better chance getting away from it in the US. the whole of europe looks like a nightmare for getting into open space. i fancy my chances in ibiza as there isnt too many red bits.

0 |

Gotta get yourself up north, somewhere in Norway or Iceland maybe. The cold won't kill them, but it'll stop them moving.

0 |

Like Derry?

0 |

RJ, I know where the secret passage is that leads from Carrick town centre into the Castle, you'll need me there without a doubt.

Have a look at Scotland on the map. I think I'd be stealing a wee boat and making my way across to the Higlands somewhere. I was always a cracker hut builder as a kid, so I'll be able to sort out accommodation no problem.

Getting firearms is gonna be the major issue in NI. I've made a mental note of anyone I know nearby who shoots, I'll be teaming up with them/raiding them should shit go down. Then it's steal a few land rovers and make for my uncle's farm.

0 |

I think we all need some of this,

There's a gun store just off the Toome bypass, straight up there tae fuck.

0 |

That's on the way to the farm. Also noted. I think I'm quite well prepared for the apocalypse.

0 |

Or Beatties gunsmith & tackle shop in Ballycarry, just outside Carrick. He also owns a wee mini tank/APC type thing. That would come in well handy.

0 |

I wouldn't be making any moves towards that guy, he'll have you picked off at the horizon.

0 |

Fair point actually. Who was it linked this up before? Looks pretty handy.

If there's ever a zombie apocalypse, I'm going to a small farm surrounded by tiny fences. Those places are virtually impentrable. Fuck, I'd be so confident there, I'd happily sleep in a tent.

0 |

it all depends on what type of zombies we are talking about here.

0 |

There's only one type of zombie, don't let some crappy Hollywood remake tell you otherwise.

0 |

Fuck the purists. Horror is evolving. Deal with it.

0 |

Think I might watch Zombieland tonight...

0 |

"Dawn of the Dead (2004)" wasn't evolution, it was bleh. World War Z will be the true representation.

is this some kind of tweed based zombie hunt?

0 |

I'm not markinga single movie Matthew, but the Zombie genre is changing and the cries of the purists gurning about running zombies is so tiresome. I'm 100% behind anyone who wants to toy with the 'horror rules'.

Unless they make vampires sparkle. Vampires don't sparkel.

"Getting firearms is gonna be the major issue in NI"

I'm all about the melee tbh!

0 |

Nobody else has fucked with the formula. 28 Days Later didn't have zombies. Shaun of the Dead, The Walking Dead, Zombieland have all had shambling zombies. Resident Evil don't even count as films. I'm not being a purist, I'm just not sure where you're getting the 'changing' idea from.

0 |

Would you have your own crew or be by yourself??

0 |

I'm well sorted come the zomb apoc tbh, g/f da is a farmer just over the boarder, lotta land, no neighbours, next to impossible to find and grows all his own food with a well at the bottom of a field, once the shit hits the fan all I need to do is get there in one piece and help shore up the defenses and get a moat dug

0 |

Lone wolf for sure, everyone else is just a problem waiting to happen.

0 |

Dawn of the Dead remake -> better than anything Romero has done ever

0 |

feck that get yourself up to raithlin even get a rave going

0 |

Not difficult really, Romero's films were mostly shite, aside from the original Dawn of the Dead.

You shouldn't be a lone wolf, you always need someone to watch your back in case of minor injury. No big crowds though, that's just asking for melodrama. Zombies are like Daleks, so just find somewhere tall or high and block/cut off the accessible routes. You still want to be able to escape though and it needs to be somewhere with resources.

0 |

The problem with the zomb apoc is not the zombies, depending on type obviously.. If we're talking shamblers then they are minor inconvenience, if they are balls to wall sprinters then your fucked no matter what, it's other humans and dwindling resources that'll be the death of ye

0 |

Yeah I was thinking the likes of a 3 or 4 man crew. Plus im not sure I would pack up and move somewhere else. Staying where you live has the best advantages I think, i.e knowing all the routes of by heart!

0 |

Back home to Killyleagh could be the move - lower population plus although the people are friendly they'd have absolutely no qualms about shooting you in the face if you came at them, looked at them a bit funny or looked at their pint. Plus there's a sweet cassle. Yeeeeeoooo

0 |

I think you're seriously splitting hairs if you're saying 28 days later wasn't a zombie movie.

0 |

Why is Glasgow less of a danger zone than Belfast?

0 |

Wayne, they weren't specifically zombies in the film is what I'm saying. Sure it was called 'the rage virus'.

0 |

it's not really a zombie movie as we know them. they have a rage virus. they don't mindlessly feed on people

0 |

And, splitting hairs is what the internet is founded on

0 |

Zombies & Rage virus are two completely different things tbh, one eats you the other bates you to death or until you change, 1 is the walkin dead stopped only by a headshot the other is human and therefore still subject to being easily killed...

0 |

But it's so heavily influenced by zombie movies, and had it actually been a zombie movie it wouldn't have been that different. For all intents and purposes, it may as well be a zombie movie.

0 |

It's a zombie movie, but it doesn't have zombies in it.

0 |

There's no black and white issue here.
It wasn't a zombie movie.

0 |

I think that's a fair statement Matthew.
Rubick on the other hand...

0 |

Anyway now that we've all agreed that RJ is wrong, let's get back on topic.

0 |

Up to my granda's farm. Out in the arse end of nowhere, has shotguns, loads of big tractors which i'd just use to crush any zombies and for supply runs. big fuel tanks full of red diesel too bai. a big herd of dairy cows, some beef cattle, 2 massive chicken houses, loads of land. Fuckin' sorted m8.

Anyone read World War Z? Reading it at the mo.

0 |

lemactoday @ 1:39 p.m. Why is Glasgow less of a danger zone than Belfast?

I assume as its to do with the port?

0 |

Yeah, just finished it last month headru$h, good oul read. I'm actually reading the book that inspired it at the minute "The Good War", amazing stuff.

They're making a film of WWZ which would normally be bad news, but the credentials behind the people running the show are top notch and I'm looking forward to it. Still think it should be a TV show though.

0 |

Because Zombies would stay away from Glasgow.

0 |

"The cold won't kill them, but it'll stop them moving."

Why would the cold stop them moving Matt??

I always think about what I would do in an apocalyptic situation, my gf thinks it's funny... I think it's essential. In regards where to go, live, etc, it's a really tricky one though. Really tricky. Ideally you need somewhere you can grow your own crops and possibly breed animals, but those sort of settings often leave you very open to attack from either zombies or other survivalists who may see the opportunity and want to take it from you. Yet city locations could offer more secure living possibilities (Police Stations, high buildings, shops with shutters, etc)... but once the food starts to perish you've got a bit of a trek to get more, through what will probably be fairly populated zombie areas.
