Heading to berlin on Friday for what is shaping up to be a feast of quality tunes, however i have never been before so do not know what to expect.

Would like some tips and knowledge about clubbing in Berlin from people who have been and witnessed it for themselves. for example what is the best times to arrive at watergate and berghain to gain access? Dresscodes? can you get stuff readily enough? (please pm me if this is not fit for the forum.)

Also general questions like is it better to get a weekend train pass or just travel by taxi, i am staying 2 minutes walk from Watergate.

I really appreciate anybody who takes the time to reply informatively.

Don't bother with Berghain unless you fancy standing in the cold for hours and hours and hours and hours.....even then you may not gain entry lol. I just waddled in to Watergate shortly after midnight with no probs. Haven't been to Tresor since early 90's and its moved though reports are that it's a better alternative to Berghain. Check out Icon club and the ambulance bar if its still on Oranienburgerstr.

Head to Mitte and it's environs....you'll find plenty to occupy you. Buy three day travel pass at the station €25 or so....laughin.

Hit the Absinthe bar for a few nasties then see if you can find the wee hidden smokin bar down the street....its run by two Argentinian lads and they have craic a plenty.

Ask around and you'll find plenty of madness.....don't sleep and don't forget to go home ;)

Thanks for the reply i can not wait to go the roof in watergate looks incredible, i just want to go to berghain to see what all the fuss is about and because andre galuzzi will be there on the sunday morning :D

I read on a number of reviews that tresor is quality and a great alternative when rejected from berghain as it is very close to it.

Buzzing to see what it is like.

Again thanks for the reply.

I didn't do any of the big clubby stuff when I was there, mostly a nice civilised tourist. Kreuzberg is good for loads of wee strange, shoebox sized bars, there was something good going on in every one we went in to.

0 |

Oh, and go to the zoo. It's fucking awesome.

0 |

*not a club called the zoo, the actual zoo.

Triple post.

0 |

its a stag do mate so i doubt the zoo would go down well however it would be cool to wind down at midday after a night at a blistering techno rave chatting bananas to a tribe of monkeys.

0 |

Honestly, I'd recommend the zoo for parties of all ages. Best zoo evar.

From were you are staying a taxi to berghain should take 5-10 mins.
there's a great wee bar beside watergate nice and dark. Cant remember its name.

A helluva a lot of standing around at berghain

The mitte is a great spot to hang about during the day/nite, it not too far from where you will be.
take the train to friedrichstrabe, and you are in the mitte district you will find your way around it no problems
You'll have no problems getting sorted and there are loads of great smaller warehouse venues. If your prepared to go with the flow and follow people you meet.

Worth getting a decent hostel, depending on who your with. great way to meet groups from all over the world, as everyone is in the same boat. read the reviews on hostels. I met people in berlin im still friendly with.

if your on a stag you will obviously be drinking during the day flat out and prob have the usual faders etc by 2am, when you really want to be heading on to different clubs at this time. I went one time and a few of the fellas i was with were hammered by 7pm and in bed by 12. I took it relatively handy during the day, got joop'd up and headed out about 2am

Just back from Berlin last night. Great city! Ended up going to Loftus Hall on sat for Ame and Mano le tough. Place was a complete shitehole but fucking brilliant. It was like going to an old rundown gaa clubhouse for a rave. Drink was cheap as chips too. In fact drink all over the city was very reasonable and German beer is great.
Day pass on the tube is 6.30 a day, but is nice to do a lot of walking about the city

0 |

LMao @ Joop'd up.

If you are determined to do Berghain go in small numbers and go around 5am or so!

0 |

Cheers for the info lads (and ladies perhaps) I will report back on monday afternoon when i peel myself from my scratcher.

0 |

Berghain>>>>>>>the other clubs

0 |

Lucky basta! Heading in June, be sure to report back. What's the place you are staying in called?

0 |

Heading there en route to the euros. Still not booked accomodation, only there for one night, any recommendations? For a group of fellas for one night. Cheap and as cheerful as possible. Wouldn't mind a spot of rave while im there, but I'd not be arsed to sit in a queue for hours for a chance to get into Berghain. Prob try out one of the other places mentioned.

0 |

we are staying in the PLUS hostel across the river from watergate cheap as chips and it looks outstandng tbh!

www.hostelworld.com/ho... check it out £500 for accomodation for 20 2 6 bed dorms with en-suite and 2 4 bed with en-suite. £500 for the 2 nites had a budget of £950 (9 people @ £50) £450 left for festivities for the bus journey down to dublin.

0 |

paulm im literally going on now to book a hostel for berlin en route to the euros.

Picking up campers there on the 8th. Generator, baxpax or wombats alll pretty handy to the mitte and u-bahn. Stayed in a few off them before

www.hostelworld.com/se...

0 |

Booked into bax downtown plaza for 7th and 8th should e an interesting beginning befor heading to poland

0 |

haha,...whats the odds we are in the same room?? :) booked it myself

cant recommend that particular hostel enough static, stayed there last january. smack bang where you want to be and has a 24 hour bar/lounge. great for commin back from the clubs!

0 |

Haha possible man! I was gonna shell out for a two room as were staying in hostels across poland but ended up booking into an 8 i think as unlikely to get much sleep, gettin a train at 4 i think to poznan so dont wana give myself too much of a beasting that night, theres a few line ups ob RA already for the friday Ame and maragret dhegayas playin in watergate i think

0 |

I must get on this quick. Are you staying in the host cities static man? We're staying in a place in between the two, seems to be plenty of irish doing it, few guys on the ybig supporters forum doing buses to n from the matches as well. Jobs a goodun. Might book that hostel now too

0 |

Got a link handy for that hostel in Berlin, google isn't returning much :s

0 |

ah forgive me, im a dozy shite didn't see thon link up there ^

0 |

Its bax downtown plaza paul sorry no link can get you it 2mro if you havnt got it by then, supose to be a great spot and only 22E a night. Is the place ur talking about taurin? Theres loads staying there, staying in poznan a few nights then taurin 2 then gdanzk 3 flying to krackow a few nights theres no games there so gonna book into a nice hotel chill out a day or two then back to poznan for the last game

0 |

Yeah torun, staying the whole time there, will most likely stay in poznan/gdnask the night of the games, if it goes awry there are trains back to torun in the middle of the night from both. Can't wait now, still not got any tixs though. That portal is a complete bastard. Still think it'll be OK to get them over there (hope so anyway)

0 |

in an 8 bed ourselves.. uncanny. but yeah its great, and quiet enough if you want it to be. ive to drive the motorhome from berlin-Poznan late the next nite. so gona have to take it relatively handy myself. stopping in torun for a few days in and out of poznan. Hoping to avoid the majority of built up areas, as are most it seems. you lads got match tickets ok?

0 |

ill keep ypu posted about the ticket situation as we may have a few lads looking to offload some. I got tickets for croatia and italy off the portal, could have had the spain ones but didnt bother as spent enough. At one stage i was on the portal and all three games were there at category 2 price, but didnt bother. i bought two cat 1 tickets . pricey enough

id say you should def pick them up, butt ill keep you in mind if any of the lads do want rid of them.

0 |

If any do come up at all, we'll certainly take them off your hands. Cheers

0 |

If you want to increase your chances of getting into Berghain then don't go on the Saturday night. I'd recommend heading on Sunday morning after 10am. Its on till the early hours of Monday morning so you're still going to get at least 15 hours there.

Most of the tourists head on Saturday night and due to the large queues this makes the bouncers even more picky at this time. The locals seem to head on Sunday morning/lunch time. Also when you are queueing stand either alone or in pairs, 3 max. Also this sounds weird but don't be talking too much or messing about while in the queue. And don't be in a mess either or you won't get in.

0 |

I'm heading to Euros myself so I'll be in Berlin on the 8th and probably end up in Bacpax too haha. Where did you lads book your accomodation for in Torun?

0 |

Yeah got tickets for all 3 on the portal category 1 aswell and saw cheaper ones appear after but just held onto them, id say now the portal has closed and the tix are about to be issued you will see a few spare ones for sale, i know of a few ones that bought up a few extra

0 |

If you know anyone who is looking rid of tickets give me a shout on here, I had no luck with that Portal at all :(

0 |

Will do

0 |

i could be wrong but im sure the portal is reopening in may.this could be to allow users to check orders etc, but it may be to sell more tickets im not 100%. only 7 weeks to go now!

0 |

I stayed in plus hotel the last time I was there....Its a great spot....Nice bar and restaurant...cheap aswell...Also a swimming pool and Sauna which me and oul cemac spent some time in....Scantily clad spanish girls all over the show

0 |

I dreamt last night about italian girls at the games with nothing but wee italian flags painted over their baps

0 |

Need tickets for the italy game, we fly into poland the day of the croatia match - but its 50/50 if we'll hit poznan in time. Theres 4 of us headed, so id be interested in tickets too.

0 |

stayed in Sunflower Hostel in September based on a recommendation from the old board, great wee hostel, cheap as chips, close to berghain and watergate, couldn't recommend it enough. Great city too, plenty more to it than just the rave, definitely going to head back

0 |

lol @ Smee! read that as you and oul cemakerel scantily clad with lodsa wee spainsh mischas floatin about the sauna!

0 |

aye we got into the sauna and a loada wee 19/20 yr old minxes in their bikini's bounced in and were lying down putting their legs in the air and shit and resting their legs on the sauna walls..Fucking shape of them too....CALIENTE!!!

0 |

Sounds Marvellous

0 |

check out tresor, been twice and well worth the trip. been to berghain once and tresor wins imo.

0 |

Heading on a stag do next Friday. People arriving at staggered times so looking for a good beer garden to base ourselves in.

Anybody recommend any?

0 |

Booked the sunflower hostel today. Any of those heading to Torun know much about the train situation? Can link me or tell me best routes etc...

0 |

There are one or two beer gardens by the Tiergargarten in Breslau Strasse

0 |

Stayed in that Plus hostel a few weeks back. It is indeed sweet. Had planned to dip in the swimming pool on the sunday morning. (for above reasons - 19/20 yr old hardbody spanish birds) Ended up hoofing far too much madman up our bakes who we'd acquired in a club from a guy that looked like Fonzie. Walked past Watergate at 9am on the sunday morning. Not a chance we were getting in. Hack of us ffs lol

0 |

hardbody lol

0 |
