suprised we dont have a thread already tbf

such a glorious topic.. my most recent kebab was a chicken shish, w/ all the salads (inc cabbage) with chilli and garlic sauces, on a flat turkish style bread. The name of the place: The Golden Grill at Camberwell Green, SE5

I realise that my london based input is of little use to the majority of posters but you're gettin it anyway :)

tell us about the kebebs!

That sounds well nicer than anything you get here, more authentic.

God kebabs in Germany, loadsa Turks there too.

0 |

Good kebabs in turkey too

Nice wee Kebab place open in Bangor now, Barons on Abbey Street. Proper greek style kebabs, done on this wee charcoal bbq. Got steak, lamb and bbq'd chicken in mine with heaps of salad and some greek sauce that was kind of minty. 5.50 all in, bargain!

Last was thursdays two doners for £3.70 special at shakeels in belmont. for the price its really really good. nice pitta bread too you can never be sure if youll get poor pitta.

they do a great doner on chips too and good house sauce, overall its one of the best places for doner going.

Are kebab shops open today?

0 |

thankfully this is one of few days , 2 to be precise, most places dont open.

0 |

shakeels used to be my favorite, but got sick off it, kebab and pizza house on newtownards road is unreal, where the east used to be.

0 |

has to be a shish kebab...lamb or chicken, chillis, mayo, a nice home made lumpy chilli sauce, we bit of salad....cless

although the above is standard fayre for those of us who frequent england.......sadly is not the norm in belfast unfortunately

Jaipur has gone down hill a bit. I loved the pakora on peshwari (thank you Fergus for the introduction to that gem). I want to try out that place Orlagh recommended on the Sphinx thread though.

I'm eating my first Sphinx EVER literally right now. It's OK. I like the sauce; and I like that there's fried onion thrown in with the meat. Some salad would have been nice.

0 |

No, never salad.

Its a tradishioanl south belfast kebab.

0 |

would you like a side(roads) of fallafel?

0 |

Kebab meat is ratten, its all about steak or pakora kebabs.

0 |

pakora is very nice but lamb/chicken shish is outstanding if cooked well

0 |

agreed.

But your talking shish on the skewers, in a proper kebab shop style.

You don't get that really here, home made sauces, yoghurt, pickled chili etc.

I really like greek style lamb kebabs too, lot less heat, more salad, garlic, mint yoghurt and roast lamb.

0 |

yeah i keep forgetting that you guys dont have access to the same level of kebabage

proper fellafel souvlaki is where its at, used to live for them in melbourne

0 |

shawarma platters in holland as well.

holy fuck like, we need that shit here.

I really top notch kebab shop would clean up here.

0 |

what would you call it?

0 |

The Jade Goody

0 |

I got a mixed on naan earlier from sandy row kebabs. And a chip. Absolutely monstrous. The chips are glorious. I have no idea how I finished it all, with a 66cl Stella as well. Wish I had a time machine here, go back and have a word in my own ear ffs. instagr.am/p/K5nEjFhHpC

It is proven that kebabs are bad for you, I'm eating less of them, enjoyed kebab at the time, but now going for chicken tikka or something like that, or something out of the Indian or out of byblos, which I wouldn't eat the chicken leg out of,,

0 |

how come? bad aids?

0 |

Don't know thing done by some medical thing in some university, just says kebabs are dangerous due to the amount of trans fats, like eating loads of big Macs,,

0 |

Only stinking doner though koops

0 |

What sauce did you get on it lemac? Fuck sake reading kebab threads at 10am is not a good thing!

0 |

House, nice enough but reckon I would have enjoyed garlic a bit more. Theres some severe aromas coming from me today

0 |

Shoulda done what I usually do house on 1 half and garlic on the other flip it around and repeat process althou have it so the garlic on one side mixes with the house on the other side.

Thou prior tasting of house & garlic sauce is needed!

0 |

Although this method is dependant on sed establishment letting you put your own sauce on!!

0 |

Devoured a mixed on chips with house sauce from Gucci chip last night. Better than Sandy Row. The steak didn't feel as cheap an was more consistant.

0 |

you see most people seem to measure how good a kebab is on it's size, quantity over quality. Most kebab shops use cheap meat and ingredients i find. I prefer Indian restaurants over turkish kebab places here

0 |

Best kebabs I've had were in Budapest hands down. They were about £2 too. Krakow comes a close second.

0 |

Ooh, international kebabs

My far so far is Melbourne souvlaki, but half.of Melbourne is Greek so may as well be in greece

0 |

is souvlaki greek?

i loved the kebabs in rhodes

0 |

Yes nik, comes from the Latin word for skewer

Zaytoon dublin nuff said!
